My BiLateral Oophorectomy last week

Well I went in last Thursday fully aware that the doc was going to take my left ovary and woke up to find that I am now completely ovary-less. My left ovary was indeed attached to my colon which I knew about, but my right one was attached to my bladder/ureter. The doctor had to do some repairs with the removal. I lost a bit of blood and had to have 2 units during surgery... my husband said that I looked dead when I 'came to'. I started the hormone patch estradiol Friday night which I have to change once a week and left the castle Saturday afternoon. I have 24 staples across my tummy in a nice smiley face pattern. For the most part I am doing ok... I am, in fact, at work-- although I have decided I will be leaving very shortly. I should have the staples removed Friday and should have the pathology report back as to what caused the adhesions to begin with.

Castle stay was okay, I only had two nurses that weren't pleasant. Was surprised when the gift shop screwed up a flower order and brought me some congratulating me on my new baby girl.... I guess I did quite a bit of Demerol dialing (like drunk dialing) only now remembering pieces of conversations that I had-- ugh!

Take care,
tinkies

Hi Tinkies!

I'm sorry you ended up losing both ovaries. There's nothing quite like instant menopause, is there?

I hope you do well on your estrogen patch. I'm using the Vivelle Dot and I like it a lot.

Be sure to get a lot of rest and don't overdo activities. You are back to having status and deserve to be pampered!
