Any more periods?

I am really having problems coming to grips with this "no period" thing. Not that I'm going to miss it, it's just that it's been such a problem for so long that I just don't believe it won't be there anymore!

So I pose a question to you post-op ladies. Have any of you out there had any bleeding after a total hysterectomy? I understand about mini-periods with leaving the cervix, but mine will be removed. After your post-op bleeding, once it was gone, was it gone? Did you spot at any time after recovery? If I wake up on day 5 and there is no more bleeding, is that really it?

I'm starting to get very nervous (which is not my style!), but it seems like my questions must be very common because everyone is already posting them and I'm reading great responses! Thanks so much, friends!

I had my hysterectomy in 2003, my ovaries were kept but my cervix removed. I am very happy to say that I have not had a single sign of bleeding since that time. I was used to very long, hard periods and then go to nothing. It was amazing. This procedure gave me my life back!

I had my hyster. in Oct. '06 and yep, it's true, no more periods Other than some slight bleeding that started about two weeks after my surgery and which lasted a few weeks (which my Dr. told me to expect), that was it. Of course, that doesn't mean you won't be checking for awhile. I find myself doing that all the time and then laughing at myself. Guess it's kind of hard getting used to not having one when we've lived with them for so long.

I had a TAH RSO (left ovary already out)
and it's true: no more bleeding at all
(after a couple of days in my case).
It's such a wonderful feeling: I feel FREE!

I am just 7 1/2 weeks post-op and had some slight spotting post-op. I had an area of granulated tissue that the doctor treated with silver nitrate...no bleeding since. It's kind of weird because after having my period for almost 39 years I keep expecting to see some bleeding, but there is none...I'm sure I'll adjust to it eventually!

Monica, too funny, you miss your Always pads? LOL I don't know why but that makes me laugh! I don't think I will miss them, but you never know what you'll miss til it's gone!

I had to take some things back to a store the other day. The bag had been rolling around in my car and I had also dumped my purse out in there one day looking for something. After the clerk took the things out of the bag I took the bag to wad it up and a tampon fell out! It was a female and we both laughed. I wadded it up in the bag and said throw it away, I will not need those ever again! So that was my very last tampon EVER! They are so expensive and I hated to throw away a perfectly good one but it was what I needed to do, throw it away! I wonder if I will come to miss them too?

No bleeding since immediately after surgery. We are all different. I would prepare for some bleeding and be happy if you have none. I'm almost 6 weeks out so I could still bleed some. I still have my pads. I did give my tampons away.

I had my TAH last Tues. and I've had no bleeding no spotting nothing. I was due to start my period any minute and never did, so my last period was Feb. The nice thing about the TAH (ovaries removed and cervix too) was that my breasts stopped hurting immediately after surgery. I have fibrocystic breast disease and the one big fibroid I have feels like it's shrunk and no breast pain. It feels weird to to have to worry about a period. Any feeling of discharge (you still get that from the vagina) sends me running to the bathroom thinking I've started. You should see my closet-there are tons of leftover tampons and 2 boxes of pads for post surgery. Any takers???

I had absolutely no bleeding after surgery and I'm glad to say have had nothing since. I can't tell you how great it is not to have to worry whether it's 'that time of the month' again. The freedom to choose whatever underwear or clothes you want to wear without having an 'accident' is also really liberating. I gave all my supplies away to a friend a few weeks after the op and I still smile when I walk past the tampon aisle in the supermarket and think "I'll never need those again".
