Weight Gain!

Oh My Gosh I am blowing up like a balloon!

I am Four months post op and just three weeks ago I broke down and bought Fat Shorts! and They don't fit already! I can't believe the amount of weight I am putting on and nothing I do seems to help!

I admit to not being a motivated excersizer but this is crazy I am looking like a stuck pig! Don't get me wrong I love not having periods anymore but I didn't know that the trade off was going to be that I would blimp out!

I kept my OO's and wonder if anyone else is/has experienced this and what the heck can I do???? I have been wanting to quit smoking and really think I am ready but I know that THAT will have me gaining even more weight Almost Unavoidably!
HELP

Also Guess what> My OBGYN Decided to stop practicing in my location and moved over an hours drive from my house I AM TICKED now I have to find a new Doc!

Weight Gain!

Don't fret....I was always the girl in school that people envied because I was so skinny. But what no one realized was, I tried everything to gain weight. I was too skinny and felt ugly. Well, after my hysto, even I gained weight. 25 pounds. I was fat. My family couldn't believe it. I had to buy a whole new wardrobe for work and ran around in my off time in my husbands sweats. That was hard since I live in Florida! I am now 1 year post op. Now, I no longer have to walk around in my husbands sweats, but I still get a swelly belly once in a while, so I have my old clothes and clothes one size up.
Good luck.

Weight Gain!

Traci, I, too, gained mucho weight, perhaps because of the Premarin or perhaps, due to a newfound joy in overeating fatty foods. For example, how good is a pint of ice cream while lying in bed resting? ow delicious is full fat cheese on Ritz crackers. Pizza. Can it be bad. Seriously, my internist told me to lose weight slowly by cutting back. We all know in our hearts how to lose weight without spending money. Count calories and exercize.
Now I need a 12 jeans. I make my own clothes often for comfort with an elastic waist for comfort. I make loose clothing in bright colored rayon fabrics. I receive numerous compliments. Good luck on your journey. I am there with you. Love, Judi

Weight gain..

Hi Tracy..

I'm not understanding something . You had a Vag hyster, kept both ovaries but you are gaining weight? Do you know if your ovaries are working properly. Didn't I read somewhere that there is the possibility that your ovaries can still shut down with any type of hyster? And if they have shut down, zero hormones being produced (at least by the ovaries) .

Did your gyn put you on any meds before he left town? What part of northeast Ohio are you from. Feel free to e-mail me and I'll help you all I can.

hugs and god bless,
jhenna

weight gain

I too have gained 40 pds since my surgery (Nov. 2000). I had a football sized fibroid with serious back pain and heavy bleeding. I would prefer to have it all back now, because my back still hurts, and the weight gain is awful. I am depressed almost all the time. I'm 31 with no children.

Weight Gain!

LeLe
Have you seen anyone about your back or the depression? That pain, and possibly not being able to be active because of it, could make you feel even worse and be more depressed. My headaches and insomnia coupled with the postpartum depression that I already was in when I had the hysterectomy put 80 - yes I said eighty (there, I spelled it ) on me. I finally got it together and got on the Atkins diet - we should probably jump over to Hysteritaville for this - but I lost 40 pounds of it, very quickly. Then it stopped. But I look so much better! And I feel so much better.

You might think, yeah, but you still weight 40 pounds more, but I say, but I still weigh 40 pounds less than what I did!!!!
--------I'm in an oddly positive mood right now!
I'm thinking about going back on the Atkins or some other type of hard-charging thing like that, and doing it "with" the ladies on-line here. Have you checked out the Hysteritaville forum?

There are a lot of things out there that could help you with the depression, or maybe its your back... have you checked it out?

I'm with you

Hi!
I gained at least 15 pounds since my TLH with Burch on Nov. 3, 2000. Prior to the hyst I had lost almost 40 pounds with the Atkins diet. Low Carb does work and it can be a good diet. However, after my hyst I was not up to eating all the stuff permitted on Atkins. In January, I was really disgusted with myself so I went back to low carb and lost a few pounds, but not like I did originally on the low carb plans. I still have one ovary and am not taking hormones. I'm dealing with a rectocele now and have bloating and pain ect. ect. My GI doc suspects IBS and I have a colonoscopy scheduled for Friday. I don't even know what to eat or what not to eat anymore cause of these IBS type symptoms. I'm trying to walk more and after all these results will start some type of diet again soon. Low Carb has been good for me in the past but now I wonder if it will aggravate IBS. I still watch sugar but I do eat more fiber. I'm thinking more carbs can aggravate IBS as well. Who knows? Anyway, I hope we all get healthy, thin and pain free soon.
Love, Light, Blessings

Weight Loss BH

Hi all ,

No offense but everyone is talking about diets that worked for them "BH" (before hysterectomy). Can anyone please tell me what has helped them take off the pounds "after" the hysterectomy? I'm eating right, doing light exercises and nothing is working .

All input will be greatly appreciated.

Love and hugs,
jhenna

Jhenna & Weight Loss

Your post did not say how old your are. When I was younger I easily took off weight with walking rapidly several miles a day and cutting down on calories. I would lose a pound a day this way and be back to 120 lbs in no time. Now since the hysterectomy I have not really done such walking and have done much feasting. I can't blame hormones as I have been on HRT for years anyway. I do not think there is a magic pill. A counsellor at work joined Jenny Craig and did very well. I have no inclination to do the same. Also, I do not like feeling hungry. If I find a solution for this phase of my life I will tell you. But since it probably involves the obvious --more exercise and fewer simplified carbs and fatty foods--there is no mystery we cannot solve on this diet matter.
