Increase Premarin???

Hi everyone. I had my total done 1/31/07. I am doing really well now. I am on .03 of Premarin. When I last went to my Dr. I mentioned that I was having trouble falling asleep and couldn't actually nod off until around 1 or 1:30 in the morning. I also have noticed that my face is alot drier than it used to be before my ovaries were removed. The Dr. said that it probably was that I wasn't on a high enough level of Premarin. I don't want to go back to my Dr. right now unless I have to, so my question is this. Is it all right for me to cut my .03 Premarin pill and take half of it with my regular dosage, giving me .045mg? If so, then how long before I should notice any change if this is in fact what is the problem? Thanks, Sue.

Premarin is not designed to be cut. Why not just call your doctor and ask them to call you in a higher dose, or ask if you can take two of them. That's still a very low dose for someone in surgical menopause.

Increase Premarin???

I was taking .625 and having issues. The dr changed it to .9 and things are better. I agree--call and ask if you can move to a higher dose.

Increase Premarin???

I too had a total on 1/31/07. I'm curently on premarin .625mg, but I started with the.3 and was having problems with my sleep which is how I came to the increase. The Dr. said that it would help and I started to notice the change in about a week. A phone call to the Dr. won't hurt anything, and you just might get better relief.

Increase Premarin???

I take mine in the morning. Mainly because it's easier for me to remember to do so.

caffelatte,
I, too take mine in the A.M. The pharmacist may know if there is a better time. Also I gave you the wrong dose of my premarin last time I e-mailed you. I'm actually taking 1.69, not .169 (oops!) lol best to you this easter

Increase Premarin???

I also posted the wrong dosage!!! I take .3 not .03. I also take mine in the morning. Since I started this thread, I have taken Melatonin for the sleep problem and it is working wonderfully. I take only 1 mg. since that seems to do fine for me. I tried 1.5, but I had some strange dreams, so went back to the original dosage.

Increase Premarin???

I take my premarin before bed. That's what the nurses recommended in the hospital, they said that is when you have the most night sweats and hot flashes. I take premarin 1.25 and do okay with night sweats now but I am still hormonal so I am now taking Effexor for the mood swings. This is tough to be so out of whack sometimes, I think before increasing or decreasing your dose you should call the dr. Good luck, this is a really weird thing to go through, but I know we can do it!

I also take mine at bedtime--I was so nauseous at first taking it in the AM and the dr. suggested night time so I can sleep through the worst of it. Seems to be better now.
