Just wanted to ask all you princesses that had a TVH & kept ovaries how long you were at the castle. I will talk to my doctor next week but this seems to be dominating my thoughts. Thanks!

How Long at the Castle for TVH ?

Keep in mind that I REALLY hate being in the hospital. I went in surgery on a Tues at 7:30 am. Spent 100 minutes in surgery and 45 in recovery. By 9:00 that night I was feeling like I was ready to go home but, I knew that my dh wouldn't be comfortable with me at home that night. Wed at noon the doctor came to see me and told me I could go home if I wanted to. When my friend came to visit me at 1:00 p.m. I talked her into taking me home. That way I didn't have to wait until 5:00 when my dh got off work. My teenage children were home and took good care of me until dh came home. I'm so much better off at home. I spent Wed afternoon, and most of Thursday and Friday sleeping. I had a fairly straighforward LAVH with no other internal repairs.

Ask your doctor how long his patients typically stay in the hospital. My doctor told dh after my surgery that I had a 60% chance of going home the next day.

How Long at the Castle for TVH ?

I guess I was lucky, I went home in 27 hours, 24 from the time I hit my room. I also had a TVH, and felt really good after. I know sometimes the time is extended if you are anemic, need blood or have any complications of any type, (for instance your bladder won't start working). I did not have any problems and was very glad to go home to recover! Good luck!

How Long at the Castle for TVH ?

I went in on a Tuesday morning (surgery at 7:30 a.m.) and came home on Thursday night. I would have been able to go home sooner if they had found an oral pain medication earlier that did not make me nauseous. I was glad to have spent two nights in the hospital even though I had to share a room.

Here's one for you. I was in and out the same day. I have an awesome doc. All my vitals were stable, I walked, peed, kept liquids down.
We were 3 hours from home, but I was glad to be spending the night in a nice hotel with my dh instead of with the nurses.
It wasn't a matter of insurance, because that was approved. The dr. has a great surgical technique and her patients show very little need to stay overnight.
My pain meds were more of a pain than they were worth, so I took them through the second night, but I didn't like the bad dreams they gave me. The nausea meds were replace the second day with suppositories and I used them for that day only.
I haven't needed anything more than the Naproxin for 10 days after surgery and then Motrin as needed.
I have felt great the whole time.
Good luck to you,
