This is a worry for me too

I'm only 5 days post op. but this is a concern for me too. I was on Weight Watchers for two months before surgery and lost 20 lbs. I'm going to keep going and my leader will help me adjust my diet to keep my weight in check and after recovery hopefully lose a bit more. Good news is between a huge fibroid and not eating much in the hospital, I came home 7 lbs. lighter. Good luck to you.

Weight Gain

I asked the same question about a week ago and several ladies told me it actually made it easier for them to lose weight. I was so glad to hear that cause I am in the process of trying to lose weight too. Good luck....my surgery is Friday!

Weight Gain

I was really worried about gaining or not losing any more weight as I've lost 145 since March 2005 and still have some more to lose. I was staying on my exercise and eating healthy plan but the anemia and pain from the fibroids wasn't helping before the surgery to have the energy I needed to burn the calories. After surgery I was the same weight as before but needed a lot of fluids and on my post op visit weighed the same. My appetite increased after the 1st week and my doc was happy about that as he says it's a sign I was healing, he worries about lack of appetite. Now I'm able to exercise again and have a little more energy I lost 2 pounds last week. I wouldn't say it's really any different than before the surgery except I'm not in pain anymore. Good luck...

Weight Gain

i would put weight gain or loss out of my mind until you're 6 weeks out from surgery. just focus on taking care of your body and eating nutritious foods. the rest will come.

i gained a bit of weight (under 10 pounds) while i was home..but i did nothing but eat and rest and i ENJOYED it! now i'm cleaning up my diet and taking walks.

it can be done!! hormone imbalance can make it tricky though.

Weight Gain

I lost a few pounds at first after my hyst. Since then I have maintained my weight and have stayed within my weight range. I think that whether you lose or gain weight can depend on each person's personal situations. I stay active and try to eat healthy meals - that helps me a lot.

Best wishes.
