Am I nuts?

Hi, I just found out Monday that my Dr. recommends that i have a hysterectomy(keep the ovaries). I found this sight and have been reading some of the posts. One minute, I'm okay with my decision and then the next not so sure. I have several uterine fibroids and he compares the uterus to a 12 0r 13 week pregnancy. I also have very little pelvic support and having problems with bladder control, bimonthly bleeding(not heavy though) and then there's the hemroids. He wants to do a hyterectomy to remove the fibroids and relieve the pressure on the bladder, which he will be tying up. He will also put a pig bladder(?) between the vaginal wall and the rectum for support. I have had bad hemroid problems for some time and just need to take care of them. I want to do it all at once. I am 51, have three beautiful daughters and have had my tubes tied years ago. I don't need my uterus and believe it is the best option. The only problems that I am having are constant but no unbearable bladder pressure. Leakage only when I jump or ride a scary roller coaster(ha) and the irritating bleeding. It does bother me that I have noticed a pooch in the tummy when I have always had a very flat tummy. I just want my flat tummy back and don't want to wait and see if these fibroids grow larger.
Am I nuts for doing all this at once? I just want it over with.

Am I nuts?

I say go for it!!! My motto was get it all done at once so they don't have to go back again! You will do just fine! You will find that it is VERY common for ALOT of women to get it get it all done at one time! Now for me, 3 months later and they are more than likely going to have to go back and take those painful ovaries! Wish I could have had it done all at once! Hope you have a speedy and uneventful op/ recovery, whichever decision you make!!!

Am I nuts?

I have seen a number of posts where this has all been done at once.
Look around the sight, use the search area, and you will find more info.

Am I nuts?

No you're not nuts!! But for lack of a better phrase--get rid of the stuff!! I had my tubes tied in 1997 and two months ago I found out I was pregnant! It was ectopic and I had to have surgery to remove it, along with both fallopian tubes and a large ovarian cyst and the ovary along with it. I've had nothing but misery since then and am having a hyst on April 17th. I totally cannot wait to be outof pain and over this ordeal. Good luck and think posotive!!
