With hormonal balance the sore breasts can go away. I am assuming that the fibroids were removed when you had the hysterectomy. I see from your profile that you kept your ovaries. Are you noticing the sore breasts during a certain time of the month? It may be helpful to keep a journal of our symptoms.

Sore Breasts
I to had an hysterectomy and kept my ovaries. My breasts are dense and lumpy and for about a week each month they are swollen and just plain hurt. I also notice that the other three weeks of the month they can be a little sore and sometimes feel itchy almost. Keeping a journal might be a good idea. I just know that after the first of the month, my cycle is starting and to prepare for the sore boobs!
Aren't boobs fun!

Well, the soreness is not fun. However, I find that a little progesterone cream gets rid of it right away. And besides, the occasional discomfort is a reminder that so far, despite a couple of really close calls, I've been able to (mostly) keep mine.

Can you give me more info on progesterone cream? I've heard about it a little but does it increase your chances of getting breast cancer and is it ok to take if your hormones levels are fine (according to my recent blood work up)

The best source of easily understandable information is in Dr. Lee's book "What Your Doctor Might Not Tell You About Breast Cancer", which is not only about cancer. Dr. Lee advocates using progesterone cream to counter the effects of estrogen on breast tissue, especially during perimenopause and menopause (surgical or natural).
This article summarizes the results of a double-blind controlled study using progesterone cream for cyclic breast pain:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/q...&dopt=Abstract
There is no evidence that the use of low doses of natural progesterone adds to breast cancer risk. However, if one already has a progesterone receptor-positive breast cancer, it can accelerate its growth. The same goes for bio-identical estrogen ... it by itself does not cause breast cancer, but it can accelerate the growth of existing cancers.
I use a very small amount of progesterone cream, because larger amounts don't feel right to me. I haven't checked my progesterone levels in a very long time, and wouldn't set much store by the numbers anyway... I go by what feels good.

Iodine supplementation has been effective in almost 100% of the fibrocystic or sore breast patients who have tried it. The breast cancer patients have researched this a lot. There are even clinical trials going on for an iodine drug called Iogen. You can google it.
Also check out the research breast cancer patients have done. www.breastcancerchoices.org/iodine
There are several iodine discussion groups on the net, many with women who claim they don't have the same breasts they had three months earlier.
Please look into this. Iodine supplementation guidelines can be found within the groups, as many doctors are recommending it.
