jmbrg-
I looked online and I cannot find the banner/ "streamer" that I was referring to. If you know anyone that has access to clothing sales...or AFEES they can get you the streamer I was referring to. It's a yellow ribbon with a star on it and they're different depending upon whether you are "retired", "still serving" etc; They're very nice. Or you can have your son get you one...I like them better than the Blue Star Banners, just because they're unique and anyone that's military or has been military would recognize it.

I will have to look when we go to the Fort in November for Basic Graduation. They sound cool. Thanks for checking.

Cyoteepaw -
What does your son fly? That's awesome! Where is his home base? I'm in the Air Force, but I don't fly. Unless I'm flying to training or back to the states to visit my family. My husband got a chance to fly in an F-4 and an F-16 and he said it was incredible! Pilots love what they do and America needs them to keep doing it! All our military. We need us all! Someone emailed me this presentation, "who packs your parachute"...you seen it? It's so true.

Hi Chevelle,
He flies a KC-10, which refuels other planes in flight (you being AF probably already knew that). He is based in CA. Is your husband also military? My nephew is also a Captain in the AF and is stationed in Ohio at Wright-Patt.
With so many people not understanding why military is important... its nice to see positive things said on the board here.
This board gives me somethig to read while I am home recovering. I had my LAVH/BSO/A&P repair done on the 9th of August and just knowing that there are others going through the same things is comforting.

cyoteepaw,
I had my surgery 8 Aug and I'm healing well. I appreciate the Military paying for my surgery and giving me time off to heal as well. I love the military! 20 years for me so far. Still have 3 years left to go.

My husband is retired AF. (he's younger than me too)

We were stationed in California. Vandenberg. Is your son at Travis?

I'm from Ohio. We always wanted to go to Wright Patterson. Never had that opportunity.

Where are you?

Has your son been in the AF long? Hopefully you'll be able to go visit him in all the wonderful places his career will take him.

I used to work in Aerospace Medicine, so I was used to the pilots coming in for their medical concerns. Pilots are special people! They do love their jobs! Air to Air Refueling...isn't it awesome?

Our pilots do so much for our country. Our military as well...anyway, everything from Search and Rescue for lost hunters (my husband worked with Search and Rescue operations in Montana), people in disaster areas like Katrina...humanitarian aid...providing food and water supplies...as well as combat operations. Our Air Force is amazing! The Army, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard, Ntl Guard and Reserves have flyers as well.

Take care! Tell your son hello! - from an AF gal in Okinawa Japan.

My DH is in the Navy, he retires in less than 2 years. It's been quite a journey but I'm happy to have lived it. I just had a tvh and he was deployed at the time so it wasn't easy. But he'll be home tomorrow and everything will be right again.

Navy wife

latteluv- hey, you know I was just thinking about how this is the first time I really "needed" my husband to take care of me that he was actually here the whole time! I'm sorry your husband wasn't around. My husband is retired AF and every time I was sick or needed something like this post hysterectomy support it seemed like he was gone. Almost wasn't around for my "only child" birth. I was in a Foreign Country...way far away from family...As you know, it's all part of the "life" we lead. I'm the Active Duty one now (still) We were both Active Duty when my child was born. Well take care. Take care of yourself.
