Now this is strange...yikes

Hello to everyone.I am now 5 weeks post-op and feeling great, resting and being a good princess, but something disturbing happened a little while ago.I was in the bathroom and after going pee=pee i noticed something on the tissue. It looked like stitches!!!! It was little threads with a knot.Is this normal to visibly see stitches?I was told they would dissolve.I hope i didnt overdo it,i feel fine though.Hmmm.

stitches

Hi Daisy,

Im almost 5 weeks post op and I have seen stitches too. I had my post op exam last week and told my doctor. He said usually they do dissolve but its not unusual to actually see them. Hope this helps.

This is normal, as long as there is no bright red blood or pain. it's just the stitches dissolving.

stitches

Thank you for asking this question. I just had my 2 weeks post-op visit today. If I do see this over the next few weeks I will not worry now. Thanks for the "heads-up."

Yep, normal. They don't all dissolve at once, just degrade slowly and fall apart (picture an old rubber band). So yours dissolved enough to come apart, and you're seeing the rest of the bits.

Don't worry

I also found stitches on my toilet paper. My DH told me to put it under my pillow and see if the uterus fairy came.
I had a LAVH and have also had stitches come out of my incision site. This is way wierd but the doctor assures me that it is normal. Kind of uncommon he said but told me not to worry about it.
Happy Healing,
Brenda
