Hi ladies, I went for my first post op appointment (TAH 8 weeks ago) with my gyno/oncologist last week and was advised I did in fact have Stage 1 cervical cancer. My surgeon advised that I would need to be monitored by the cancer clinic for a period of five years. He also discovered granulation tissue at the base of the vagina and cauterized it with silver nitrate. I'm still experiencing some discomfort from this procedure after 6 days - is this normal?
I was in a bit of shock after hearing the news of the cancer so didn't ask too many questions at the time. Since then, I've written down a few questions and have put in a call to the nurse on staff however, I just wanted to read some personal testimonials. Thanks for your support.
I have not been through the exact experience you have, so I cannot give you any advice relating to treatment. I did want to post and wish you luck, and tell you I am praying for you. I was diagnosed with Stage 1b1 cervical cancer in mid-January. I went through a cone biopsy and then chest surgery when they thought it had spread. Thankfully, it had not. We are all hopeful the hysterectomy got it all. But I understand what you are going through with the diagnosis and doctor visits and I just want you to know you're in good hands here on the site...these ladies will give you great support.
