feeling slow

i had my surgery on 4/6. i had a vaginal hysterectomy and they thought they would be doing some bladder repair. turned out i had a very large fibroid on my uterus which they removed along with the ovaries. i don't know all the abbreviations. i was sent home the next day with vidadin. the pain pills made it nearly impossible for a bm...that has been the scariest part of this. i'm off the vicadin by day 5 and just using advil.

today i have very low back pains today and still have a discharge, sometimes thick, but no burning or itching. i don't go back until mon (today is thurs) and i am not looking forward to a vaginal exam. anxiety is rising. for me this experience was close to having a baby without the episiotomy. i am getting way more sleep now so that is good...bored!

feeling slow

My surgery was done on the 9th, vaginally also. I had a different surgery 3 yrs ago, with a morphine pump for 3 days, and the constipation was the worst! I was so miseable and in alot of pain. This time I brought stool softeners and dried fuit mix with me to the hospital and started using both 2 times a day. So, this time no constipation. I'm having very little disacharge, no itching or burning. It does feel like I had a baby when I sit up on my tush for very long. I am not looking forward to my 2 wk post op check up on Monday either. I remember being anxious about it when they made the appointment at my pre op. I mentioned that I was pretty sure, that it would not be a pleasant experience, and the office nurse said that the Dr is very gently. Yeah, he won't feel a thing. I have alot of pain pills left and I won't be driving until after I see the Dr on Monday, so maybe I will take 2 pain pills when the cab pulls up in front of my house to take to the the Dr's. I am trying not to think about it, until it happens. Everything else has been much less painful than I had prepared for. I think we will both be fine.

Blessings,
Maureen

2 week exam

I just had my 2 week post op yesterday. It did include a vaginal exam and was no problem. It felt uncomfortable, but nothing I needed pain meds for. I noticed I was bit crampy the rest of the night, but am fine today.
Got the okay to drive again... so it was worth it!

gyns all different

How interesting. My GYN has steadfastedly NOT done any internal exams until my upcoming 6 week check. Even when I started having trouble with a possible rectocele (bowel falling into vaginal area). She kept saying she didn't want to risk damage to the stitches. She did a rectal exam and external checks but no vaginal. Frankly, I'm just as glad. I've been so tender down there I'd dread an internal one. I'm a little nervous about tomorrow's but not too much so.

I'm praying big time, she'll give the ok to drive. She wouldn't at the 2 or 4 week checks because of the vaginal fullness and a pain I'm having along an old hernia repair down there. It's still bothering me so I'm not holding out hope though. Sigh.

Congratulations on your good healing. Remember to still take it pretty easy though and Good Luck on continued healing.

feeling slow

I had my hysterectomy on March 28, it was done vaginally and I kept my ovaries, they also took my cervix. I had the morphine drip for 24 hours while I was in the hospital and went home with vicadin. I was completely constipated. I went off the vicadin four days after surgery because I was in so much pain from not having a bm. Then I used a stool softener and ate raisins (which I have to eat daily to stay regular anyway) then I had a bowel movement. Which got rid of a lot of pain!
My doctor wants to see me at my 6 week checkup. I am glad for that. I was very tender down there for the first two weeks. So I wouldn't want a vaginal exam. I am sorry that this has been so traumatic for you. I will tell you what helped my tenderness go away. I did my kegal exercises and I believe that strengthened my vaginal muscles which in turn helped the tenderness disappear. I hope your healing process is quick.
