Hyster for bleeding

I have had long periods for the past few years (3 weeks/month), but for the past 10 months I have bled every single day. It's about 3-4 pads a day of bleeding, with some clotting and some cramping. I have seen four different doctors/gynos about it, had many tests done, and no one can tell me what's wrong with me. I did stop bleeding for a week when I took estrogen supplements, but the pills gave me intense, dehabilitating cramping in my abdomen and legs, so I had to stop taking them. The doctors don't know what the problem is and can't fix it, and it's becoming increasingly increasingly annoying and wrecking my sex life. My man and I have already decided that we want to adopt rather than have our own children because of concerns of global overpopulation. I feel like a hysterectomy might be the only way I can stop the bleeding at this point and get my life back, but I don't know of any alternatives. Any thoughts?
Thank you very much in advance.

Hyster for bleeding

Hello!

I'm sorry you haven't been able to get a good diagnosis for your symptoms yet. Are you a candidate for the birth control pills that stop your periods? I used those for many, many years with great success.

Here is a link to our Resources Directory http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/link.php? , where you may find some less-invasive options. I hope you are able to find the right answers soon.

I am sending huge cyberhugs

Hyster for bleeding

Hi, Oh do I know how you feel with the bleeding. I would bleed so much it is scary and it was over 6 months. You are not the only one out there, I was put on birth control pills and that made it worse, I had three D&C's and one ablation.I did feel so much better after the D&C it is a outpatient and the bleeding did stop but Still after a month or so my bleeding would start. It drove my and my husband crazy, and our sex life to was not the best. Has your doc said anything about having a D&C just to clean out all the tissue, the ablation that I also had is like a D&C but they burn out the lining of your uterus, bad thing to that is if you should get uterin cancer it is very hard to diagnous. It also should have worked as to stop the bleeding for years, but mine only lasted about 6 months. I dont mean to scare you with that, I thougth at the time oh this is great you bounce back fast after having it. I just wish it would have worked. Everyone is different.

I am 30 and have two great kids, and just had my hyst last week (4-17-07) My doc had also found a 8 mm mass cyst and she was not sure what it was. So a hyst was a choice to make, and after debating it that is the route we took, now it is still ealy for me to say if it has worked. While my ob was in doing the hyst she found that my oaveries were filled with cyst and the size of huge eggs when they shoudl be the size of a walnut I guess. She also then told me, I have something that is called poly-cyste something Iwas out of it after and can not remeber the correct name. I am askign when I go in for my follow up in three weeks. Finding this out was great, I did have my children at a ealry age and I am very happy that i did with my condtion I was lucky to have kids at all she said, and also why I have a hard time looseing weight and have always been tired.

I hope that I have helped you a little and I wish you the best and hope you get some answers from you doctor to get better.

Best wishes. and always remeber you are not alone out there with this.

Take care!

Hyster for bleeding

cklaske...sounds like Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome....I did a lot of research because I thought that might be my problem...turned out that was not the problem. I was basically diagnosed with Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding. I am 6 wks out almost 32 yrs old and FEEL GREAT!!!!!!!!!! this would be the 2nd period since my surgery and i can tell ya that I DONT MISS IT AT ALL! I can wear what i want and do what i want and I am sooooooooo much happier since surgery.
