chinese herbs hot flushes

Been to see a chinese doctor today, regarding their practice of chinese medicine, natural twiggs and leaves to us , they call it herbal tea , boil in water . like an infusion process , strain after 30mins then drink , smells awfull and is dark brown in colour, he says it will work for hot flushes. I have a weeks supply, so will keep my hot flushing sisters informed . Anyone else used this method for their flashes. I am desperate they get really bad. Saw my gp mon re: flushes and she said what I already know can not have hrt owing to having endo in case the seeds are still there the hrt makes them grow back

that's controversial...

It's very controversial as to whether hrt is really the culprit where endo is concerned. It's been found in women post menopausally. If you want to know more about that, let me know otherwise I'll shut up and address your original question:

I take chinese herbs for menopausal symptoms in addition to hrt: ching chun bao has helped the most in the herbal arena. You can get it from most any herbal website for 4-10 bucks a bottle. Also check out www.hormonejungle.com/supp.php for supplements that are doubly important for you since you're not on hrt and don't plan to be.

Black Cohosh is also known to help with hot flashes. You will find an article here www.hormonejungle.com/blackcohosh.php

You may also want to visit the No Hormone Oasis message board. That is where the ladies who can't take hrt hang out. They may have some helpful tips and hints on what they do to help alleviate some of the menopausal symptoms.

Ok..here goes...

They don't know what causes endo or really how to treat it difinitively. Hysterectomy for may alleviates the symptoms, not for others. Same with the hrt situation - for some cessation of all hrt helps, and for others it does not. They do not know why. My doctor and I had this discussion and she felt there wasn't enough "proof" that cessasion of hrt for 6 or more months post op prevented the "reappearance" of endo. The endo never really goes away unless it's surgically removed but the symptoms will stop if the hrt cycling is stopped (or so they think - that's the thinking behind tah/bso). If you have a constant, balanced hrt dosage (and don't cycle it) you may be just as well off. But again, it is VERY controversial and one size does not fit all -- here's some links:

I'm going to move this over to the Desert Oasis where it belongs (and where it might help a number of people), but I'm leaving a trail of bread crumbs behind here so no one loses it I hope.

Great breadcrumbs...

Wysteria - instead of the tea (and the sideaffects) you might try the chin chun bao - here's where you can order it - and you have to try it with warm water or warm tea immediately after taking it -- it does wonders for energy and the main ingredient is ginseng.

This is where I order it from and the price is the lowest on the net that I could find:
