Did the tah HELP anyone with anxiety attacks?

Hmmm, seems that we all had an increase in them, did it help anyone AFTER the tah?

I have had anxiety/panic attacks for over 20 yrs. Finally after a roll with meds over a course of 3 yrs, we found that the only thing that helps and I can tolerate is paxil and xanax. Paxil 10 mgs a day, xanax as needed. I hate the xanax because my mom was addicted to prescribtion meds, but after much discussing with phycholigist, Family Dr, neuroligist, and trying klonopin, and even some of the non addictive anti anxiety medications, (including one that made me go almost nuts and 3 days in a hospital) its a pretty much given that 1. This is the combination that works for me, 2. although there is not and evidence YET, I don't care WHAT the scientist say this stuff is HEREDIATARY at least in my family, my Mom suffered from severe deppresion, me too, my Father has it, my brother has it and even my Son and Daughter have showed traces of it. GRRRRRRR, and beleive it or not, we ALL have high cholestral too.

I was not driving for a long time, then when hubby and I seperated, I started driving again, but since I have been down with surgery, the thought of driving alone, scares me.. I have always driven, just not by myself. I also have had bouts of agoraphobia, that is the worse feeling.

Okay I am rambling now, but seriously did having your ovaries removed HELP any one at all with this stuff? So far, not been good for me.

Hugs
Katie

Did the tah HELP anyone with anxiety attacks?

I am so sorry you are going through so much. I do agree with you that depression is hereditary as there is not one of the 5 siblings in my family that have not experienced either depression, anxiety or panic attacks. They are horrible! I have been on wellbutrin and xanax for several years. I still experience some depression but not the kind that used to keep me in my bedroom for days (and I live alone) not even going into my livingroom let alone go to work. I don't know if my surgery has helped that but I do know that my anxiety over the bleeding and pain is now gone.

Try to be patient I know its really hard but you need rest. Is someone there to help you? Remember you can ask for help here anytime, these sisters helped me through the scariest time of my life as I had never had any major surgeries before and was all by myself the day after I came home, they were to me and are to others a life line when you are alone. Don't hesitate to write.

Did the tah HELP anyone with anxiety attacks?

Thanks Dawnie
I stay with my Son, he works during the day and gone most nights with his GF and Daughter, he has roomates, Tachi, his roomates GF has tried to help me as much as she can. She is usually here during the day, but I am stubborn and hate to ask her to do anything. She is a wonderful person, just very picky about things. My Father tries to pop in about once a week as well as the hubby, but it just don't make up for all the time we need that comfort you know..My freind she just don't understand about anxiety/panic attacks/ depression like my son, father and hubby do, mind you though she is only 23.
I have managed so far in keeping my sanity, I am 6 weeks post op today, but still kicking back taking it easy. Was released for the most part today. Just a lot of things i have to becareful with for a while..
Thanks I do love this board it is wonderful.
Hugs

I'm sounding like a broken record here, but get your thyroid checked. It can cause panic attacks.

Did the tah HELP anyone with anxiety attacks?

I had major anxiety and a couple of panic attacks before my surgery, that my doctor attributed to peri-menopause and the fluctuations in hormone levels. After surgery, I'm feeling so much better. No anxiety, and no panic attacks. I think for me at least, the changes in hormones were causing bad symptoms, while now, everything is more constant. I'm not taking any HRT.

Did the tah HELP anyone with anxiety attacks?

Well, I had a LSH and kept one ovary, but I was having terrible anxiety attacks that have seemed to subsided. All that bleeding and pain was about to push me over the edge. I hope all goes well for you.
