Granular tissue

I am 59 and had a total vaginal hysterectomy in October 2006. During surgery, my doctor also removed a vaginal granular tissue growth. Since then I have had two more "growths" removed and the areas treated w/silver nitrate. Growths were quite large but benign w/no bacteria present. I have continued to have lots of gray/brown discharge that has a fishy odor along w/a pinkish/red discharge. I am going back to my gynecologist this next week but this is getting old!! Any advise?

Granular tissue

Hi!

I'm sorry that you're dealing with all of this so far post-op. I know it can get discouraging. It makes for a drawn out recovery!

I was treated with silver nitrate for granulation tissue around 7 months post-op. It formed on the vaginal cuff and took a minor surgery to remove it all with additional treatments of silver nitrate. I had a discharge after each treatment but it never had a fishy odor. Be sure you mention that to your doctor when you go in next week. It could be a symptom of a vaginal infection that you'll need to have treated.

Here's an informative article about granulation tissue. I hope it helps you!

Hang in there! I hope soon this will all be taken care of once and for all!
