Hair Color myth or fact

I am scheduled to have much needed hair color done tomorrow but a friend mentioned that it might be too soon after my surgery to have it done. Is it a myth or is it fact that hormones and surgery can effect how well the hair takes the new color?

Thanks sisters!

I've never heard anything like that. I colored my hair about three weeks ago and it took fine.

I'm a licensed hairstylist and I can tell you it's true if you have it done within a couple of weeks after surgery....you've waited long enough for the meds to be out of your system that it shouldn't affect it at this point.

Best wishes

I did a root touch-up to cover the gray 7 days out and the gray covered really well.

Hair Color myth or fact

Thank you all SO much! Money is seriously tight for me so I've waited way too long. My neighbors were even asking me (hint, hint) if I was having trouble getting an appointment.

I got the hint and appreciate knowing that the money will not be a total waste.

Thanks and have a great day!

Hugs

Hair

I just got home from having my roots touched up and a hair cut, well not only does it look great it made me feel more like my old self that is somewhere inside screaming to get out. Just wanted to say go for it you will feel better.

That's the biggest reason I am going ahead despite the cost. I know it will make me feel better. Thanks for the encouragement.

Oh and did I tell you? You all look mar-ve-lous!

Hair Color myth or fact

I am a hairstylist, hense my name cosmogal, and I have never heard anything in regards to coloring hair after surgery. With perms I have. I think you will be just fine. I have done plenty of heads of hair and never have I run into issues regarding surgery and hair coloring.

Hair Color myth or fact

I got my hair colored for the first time ever at 3 weeks post op (or somewhere close to 3 weeks) and it took great. Love it!

The salon did ask when I was scheduling how long it had been since surgery (they are friends and knew I was having the hyst.) and then the girl said "oh yeah, that's just for perms, isn't it?" So, color should be no problem! Enjoy! It definately did make me feel better about myself when I was feeling like 90 years old!

Hair Color myth or fact

I colored my hair ( I do it myself) at about 6 weeks post-op. It came out a little different in shade, but otherwise is fine. In fact i have gotten lots of compliments on my 'new' color. I have noticed that my hair has a different texture than before - but I am not sure if that is from the meds, the surgery or lack of ovaries....or a combo of all three.

GO FOR IT!! I think it will make you feel better.
