Surgery Timing

So glad you are all there.... am looking for some help with making a decision about when to schedule a TVH. After years of excessive bleeding, anemia and probable associated irritable bowel syndrome and arrythmias I have made the decision to go ahead with the surgery. My gyn suspects andenomyosis. Thanks to everyone who has posted with info about their experiences of what the benefits can be.

My problem is that I am set to have a summer off of work with my 3 boys ages 12, 10 and 8. My total leave time is about 2 months. I will also have visitors staying from England at the end of July thru August. My time away from work was requested after feeling overwhelmed and overworked so I am really looking forward to it (so are my kids). I am worried about not being able to drive (along with other things) post op and how this will impact my recovery and stay at home. My husband will take a day or two but not an extended time off. My sister may help some, but both my parents have significant health concerns and won't be able to assist.

Would people suggest that I get the surgery done early in the leave so that I can enjoy the end of my time off after recuperating? Or does it make more sense to have the surgery near the end so that I don't spend the entire time unable to participate in my leave with my kids because of postop restrictions. Any help would be appreciated.

Surgery Timing

It sounds like you have made the decision to go ahead and have the surgery. In my opinion I would have it done as soon as I could.

It sounds like you have great support. Talk to your dh and your boys and get their opinion. I can tell you this that after my surgery is was alot easier dealing with the healing part than it had been dealing with those horrible periods all the time.

I want to say again this is just my opinion and nothing else.

Good Luck in whatever you decide.

Come back into the chat room and talk to the ladies some more, they are the greatest.
