Wink - From Premarin to Estradiol anyone?? From Premarin to Estradiol anyone??

Hi guys.

I had my hyst on 11/14/06. I actually feel very good with the exception of tons of water retention. Doc has switched me from Premarin .0625 to Estradiol .1 mg.
Anyone done the switch and if so anyone noticed a difference in fluid retention? Isn't estrogen estrogen? why would one type be different than the other? I certainly don't mind the new med because it's cheaper, but not sure if i'll see any difference in bloating. Thanks for any advice you may have.

jenfoor,
Estrogen isn't just estrogen. Different brands, methods of delivery can make a big difference. Premarin is a synthetic estrogen, while Estradiol is bio identical. I think Premarin also contains close to 27 differenct ingredients. Some women do just fine with it, but many don't. You can read more in the articles at www.hormonejungle.com

Gosh, no. Permarin can cause more side effects. Estradiol is bioidentical -- more like what your body makes. Most people like the Vivelle patch but there are others. You can also get it made up in a compund pharmacy in creams or gels.

Good luck!

From Premarin to Estradiol anyone??

Everyone is different, but for me trying to use Estradiol in any form is like drinking water.

The only thing it helps with for me is keeping vaginal tissues plump.

I've tried several different things in the six months since surgery and it looks like Premarin is what helps the majority of my post hyst symptoms.

I use Prometrium to help with the bloating...I take it at night becuase it also helps me sleep.
