Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
Since I kept both ovaries (TAH), what can I expect sexually, physcially, emotionally? My doctor said I will still do the hormone thing...like still experiencing PMS. Will my sexual response be similar to what it was before surgery? I would appreciate any comments about this.
Thanks!

Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
I kept both ovaries and am at 6 weeks and 2 days post-op.
For about 2 weeks, I experienced what I'd call a surge in hormones, where I felt very "frisky" if you know what I mean...unfortunately, this was about 2 weeks post-op and hubby and I couldn't do much about it. Even if I'd wanted to mess around a little, I was too sore and too exhausted to even deal with it.
We have had sex twice and lubrication wasn't a problem for me, but there was no big "O." I attribute this to my being terrified, not really anything physical.
I had a spell where I was really hungry, but I don't think that was related to my phantom cycle. And I haven't noticed any PMS symptoms...but of course, my body has been through a lot so it might take more than one month post-op for me to start noticing regularity in those things. I know I'm REALLY IRRITABLE right now and it's not my cycle time, unless things have gotten changed around.
All in all, I haven't noticed any huge hormonal changes since the surgery. I consider myself lucky. I hope you have the same outcome.

Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
I had an ovary removed in 2001. I kept one with the hyst.
The first 2 weeks or thereabouts I was all over the map emotionally.... ticked off part of the time, crying most of the time. I had infection and was really exhausted so not sure what all was happening then.
Now at 5.5 months, I feel normal. I don't have any PMS really. Definitely don't miss the pain, bleeding, cramps, etc etc.!!!
Sex is the same or better. The "O" is there and probably more intense than before.

Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
I kept my ovaries after my TAH. I still get PMS ie sore boobs and irritableness. It is weird not having a period though. As far as sex is concerned I too had very stong initial randiness about four weeks post op. Now sex is better than ever because I'm not in pain. Os are different they are more intense. Hope all goes well. Was offered some oestrogen if PMS symptoms become unmanagable.

Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
Hmm.I am about 9-10wks post -op (I've stopped counting LOL).
At about the 7wk mark I had about 2 days of terribly sore boobs. Far worse than any PMS I'd had before. I also had hot feet in bed at night from about wk2-4.
Now I feel great! I've read here that your ovaries can go into shock. TBH I felt that may have happened with me.
I've only done the deed with DH once so far (2nts ago)...it was fine. No big O but I think like a PP it was because I was a bit anxious...not due to hormone changes iykwim!

Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
I kept one ovary after my TVH on April 2nd. I like many of you had wild emotions about 2 weeks post op.(cyring, irritable, libido sky high, night sweats). today I woke up with breasts very sore and back pain. I attribute that to it being my normal time of month, well one of the times. I usually had two periods a month two weeks apart. I haven't had intercourse yet but Dh and I have made our own fun and no problems with me lubricating on my own and I had the big O. I am looking forward to doctor releasing me next Thursday so we can do the actual deed especially since I leave three days later for a two week business trip. I feel so sorry for DH but he will survive. He has been great for the last 20 years. Best of luck to all!!!

Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
Everyone is different, of course. I had some mild PMS symptoms the first month or two after surgery, now I'm just barely aware that my breasts get a little sore around "that time" of the month. In every other way I'm still the same old me!

Kept ovaries. What can I expect?
I was wondering why they decided to put you on hormones if you didn't have your ovaries removed because I kept mine and my dr. didn't say anything about hormone pills.
