Major back pain ~ anyone else??

Anyone having major back pains? I'm sore in pelvic area but more so in lower back and feel major weakness in upper back when standing long. Have burning sensation at the end of urination so nurse did culture and put me on meds (will receive results 5/7). Tuesday will be 3 weeks post-op and I still can't get over how slow recovery is. I think I must be older than the rest of you, especially those with young children. (Mine come home from college to take care of me!) Love to all

Major back pain ~ anyone else??

Yes, my lower back killed me for about 2 weeks, and then off and on for another week. I also had a lot of discomfort in my upper back, too. I was told by the nurse practitioner that it was the back muscles compensating for me not using my abdominal muscles like I did before surgery. (I had a TAH.) I had the burning and spasming at the end of urination, too, but that has gone away. Remember that your body is recovering from quite a trauma and is pretty freaked out right now. I can truely say that I didn't really start feeling "great" until about a month after surgery.

You will find that your hystersisters range in age and some have children, and others, such as me, do not, but we are all here for the same reason. I hope this helps!

Major back pain ~ anyone else??

Hi there!

Not so major now. The position they had me in for surgery and the length of time really kicked up my existing back condition (it was broken in 3 places when I was 28 and had trouble ever since). I got really terrible sciatica and I am still having problems but bless my surgeon for sending me a physiotherapist and some brand new crutches to leave hospital with. I am still using those.

I don't know how old you are but boy have I felt the same reading some of the posts. Yes, I had a lot of work done at once and they told me that recovery would therefore be slow for a TVH, 6-8 weeks or so off work but still I am awed by how quick some are recovering and even though I know it is silly I am almost ashamed to post just how bad I am feeling.

HUGS - will be thinking of you.

Major back pain ~ anyone else??

Hi,

I'll be 50 in august I don't know if I'm older or younger than you,but since my LSH-BOs which I had on april 6th, I've had very bad lower backaches and some lower pelvic pain. I had a very bad back before my surgery sciatic pain, i hope it doesn't start again. I was pain free from lower backaches for a year. I agree with the other ladies it seems to be a common problem for a lot of us reagardless of our age or having younger children. Take care hope you feel better soon.

Major back pain ~ anyone else??

I had my LSH on April 6th and backaches were a HUGE complaint for me. I called my doctor and he also said because I am not using my stomach muscles, my back is compensating for that. I went to my sons baseball game 3 weeks out and had to go to the car and recline the seat to get relief from my back. I am now 4 weeks out and it is getting better. If I am on my feet too long or over do it during the day, that is when I pay for it. I go back to work on Monday, hope all goes well there.

Good luck to you.
