who's glad they did it and who is not?

OK...I am scheduled for a TAH/BSO with multiple perineal repairs on 5-15-07. Everyone I have spoken to has said they are glad they did this, except my sister in law who had a tah/bso 8 years ago and said it is a nightmare and she went from a size 6 to a 10 and cannot lose the weight. I feel I am going to be happy with the surgery. Let me know how you guys feel.

I really didn't have a choice in the matter, really. I was looking at a possible cancer diagnosis. (It wasn't.) I'm sure I could've told the doctor to forget it, but looking back, I am glad it's over and I don't regret having my hysterectomy. I'd rather be a size 10 than deal with all the pain, bleeding, clots and other nastiness that I had before surgery.

Not sure if you SIL is on hormones or not. I have lost weight (about 10 lbs) since the surgery and I'm not on hormones, so that maybe her problem.
I am glad I had it done even though the reason was cancer.
No more having the bathroom being my main focus at my job (yes it was interfering big time working factory).
No more clothes being soaked and treated for blood.
No more having to go to the bathroom arriving or before departing a building.
No more having to head to a bathroom just because I stood up.
No more having to get up several times in the middle of the night for the bathroom unless I want to wake up to a total nightmare of a mess.
No more having to sleep on a rubber sheet due to fear of the mess.
No more having to keep thick towels on car seats in case of an accident.
No more of keeping 3 changes of clothing in car at all times.
Being able to have sex with my DH at any time I wish.
No more cramping that felt like being stabbed with knifes.
No more passing clots as big as my fist, then feeling weak afterwards.
No more of being afraid of doing things/lifting something because it would set of major bleeding.
So am I happy that I had it done?? OH YES!!!!!

I agree with brat46. I'm glad I had it done, my diagnosis was benign...fibroids...even so, it was a matter of quality of life...I was feeling apathetic, weak and exhausted. I would even do it again(!!) knowing I came over to the other side as well as I did. All the best to you for your upcoming surgery lipclip!

I feel like a new person, one who doesn't bleed for ages, NO CANCER yay My mom is finally in remission from ovarian cancer so that was part of my decision to do this. I don't have to pee all the time, and I got a tummy tuck too, lost 8lb so far, feel healthier then I have in ages! I hope you love yours too!
