Really struggling

Hi girls,

I am almost 8 weeks post op and last few days feel really awful. Having weird sensations in tummy like lots of gas in there and everything pulling up so that I can't relax my tum at all. The nerves all feel on edge, its very hard to describe. Also bloats up not long after I get up in the morning and feels sore sometimes almost just under the skin.

On top of this having horrible irrational thoughts and lots of hot flushes. Finding it difficult at times to carry on. I am normally a very strong person and deal with things quite well, in fact dealt with the rigours of endometriosis for 19 years. Think some of what I am feeling are panic attacks.

Thanks for reading.

Jo.

Jo

I'm so sorry you're still having problems. Have you been to see your GP about the tummy problems and possible panic attacks?

I think I'm right in saying you've had your ovaries removed and can't take HRT? I'm sure that explains all the hot flushes you're experiencing. Have you had a look at our "Hormone Jungle" Forum? There's a sub-forum within that called "No Ovaries ~ No Hormones (Desert Oasis)" which specifically deals with the problems of not being able to take HRT: http://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/forumdisplay.php?f=34. There are also lots of articles there which you may like to browse through.

It would certainly be worth making an appointment with your GP anyway. Take care and I hope things get better really soon.

Jo, I would make an appt. with your Dr.

Are you on any meds that the thoughts could be a side effect from? Is there anything going on in your life that is new, besides the hyster? There are great meds for panic attacks and talk therapy has helped me a great deal. I'm sorry you are feeling this way and I hope your MD can help you feel better soon. I have the hot flashes too, you feel fine one minute and then boom, hot all over. I am constantly asking "is it hot in here?" LOL

Life is too short to feel bad, I hope you can get in touch with your Dr. and find some relief. Let us know how you are doing.

Really struggling

Hi Jo,
I had a radical hysterectomy nearly 8 weeks ago (same day it seems March 12th), and have found that in the last week or so, my pelvic area just really aches, deep inside and on the surface. I know recovery time is supposed to be 6-8 weeks so I feel upset that I am not better than this. It still really hurts down there and feels bloated sometimes and tight. I am on HRT but still having hot flashes and panic attacks although they are decreasing. I wonder if we are feeling the same thing in terms of the pelvic/abdominal discomfort. It's particularly bad starting in the late afternoon.

Thanks girls for your replies.

Pooodle - not taking HRT due to endometriosis. Thanks for the link. If I am no better by tuesday I am going to see doc.

Sandra - the only meds I have taken recently other than mild pain killers is movicol to help with my bowels. Never taken it before so not sure if its causing tum probs.

Bethrhu - we seem to be in exactly the same boat! Thankyou for your reply, it really helps to know I am not alone.

Feeling slightly better at the moment.

Thanks,

Jo
