Good Morning all Monday 5/7/07
Hello everyone,
Hope you are all rested after the nice weekend - yeah right!!!!! I need a vacation after the weekend.
Sharron and Shantra - I think you both commented about the swelly belly thing yesterday - I asked my gyn/onc about that before surgery because I was terrified about losing my hard earned flat tummy. She assured me that when she did surgery that I would not get the swelly belly - sure enough - no swelly belly for me except for a huge hematoma on the right side that went down as soon as the hematoma closed off and started to shrink - she helped that along with pressure bandages. I never did have any swelly belly at all. I have an LAVH/BSO so I can't figure out if it is something different that doctors do or something in our individual makeups that cause it. It is facinating how some get it and some don't.
Melissa - did you get a chocolate phone - my DS 16 has a chocolate and it has an MP3 player, stopwatch, tv, computer, sink, stove, dishwasher, I don't think I could handle all the buttons on that phone. I have a razor and still can't figure out all the gadgets on it. I have a technology handicap.
Here's a review of the walking challenge for those who were gone for the weekend - this is for you individually - you are not competing against anyone else except yourself - this is for your health and mental well being. Time the length of your walks each day. If you walk 3 times a day for five minutes each like you may do Shantra - thats 15 minutes for that day. If you walk for 30 minutes straight today like I will do I get 30 minutes for today. You start logging minutes on Saturday and end the weeks count on Friday. Report your weeks total on the next Saturdays posts. Then your next week you want to do at least that same amount of minutes, up the speed of your walk, or walk more minutes than you did the last week. You are not competing with anyone else on the forum - it is only a means of accountability and a way to keep everyone motivated into walking everyday. Just think by next year the Boston Marathon.
Catch you later Lynn

Good Morning Everyone! It's a nice cool morning here, but the sun is shining so I'm planning on staying active today. I might end up with a load of mulch in my driveway. If that happens, I'll be especially busy. But we need it terribly in all the garden areas, so I'll look at it that way.
I think any walking that we do, that is meant to be a walk should be able to count. Whether it's inside or outside. Just get out and take a walk someplace. It's good for us and I find it really helps to keep me moving these days.
Hi Lynn and Nanno! And Hi's to everyone still to post. I need to get moving here. DH might be calling anytime that the mulch truck is on the way. I need to get my car out of the garage before that. I don't want it trapped inside. I want to move mulch at my pace, not a pace to get cars out of the garage.
I'll check in later.
Have a BEST OP day everyone!

Good morning all Best friends I'm heading out the door to the bank, nextel store, and the grocery store. DS in Arizona has no phone, it died So I need to get him a new phone. It's suppose to be nice out today. When I get back I'm going for my walk outside. I was going to go to the gym, but since I was cooped up inside at work all weekend I need the fresh air. I plan on doing my 5 mile block. Then tomorrow I work a 12 hour day again
I will drink up lots of water today. And food will be OP.
Breakfast: was cup coffee w/ff cream & splenda, yogurt.
Snack: fiberone bar
Lunch: tossed salad w/mixed greens, carrots, cucumber, strawberries, walnuts, chicken salad on top.
Supper: making a large grilled chicken salad w/mixed greens, cucumbers, zucchini, peppers, mushrooms, carrots, strawberries, walnuts, grilled chicken. Making a fruit salad w/ honeydew melon& cantalope.
I need the scale to get moving. It is stuck and I am very frustrated over it.
I better get going. I'll check in later.
Bye,
Yvonne

Hello Everybody,
I wanted to start posting about food and exercise and my weekend, but I just received an email and text message from my oldest DS telling me that their school is in lockdown because of a threat. The admin. is not answering questions, and they are not dismissing school...no one can come or go. Police are there patrolling. Obviously the kids are nervous or DS wouldn't have emailed AND text messaged. Never expect things like this to happen in our small town. I'm pacing and watching out the window (we live across from the school). Food won't be a problem today...breathing is, though. I'm requesting prayers from everyone I know as I don't take these things lightly. I'll be on my computer waiting for more news...I just hope they walk in the door soon! Thanks for "listening". I know it's inappropriate to write about this here, but I think of you ladies as friends, and I needed to tell my friends. When the BEST ladies get involved, good things happen.
Nervous mother,
PJ

First of all PJ I don't feel it is inappropriate to post here at all. The one thing I picked up early is how supportive this bunch of people are about ALL aspects of our lives. My are with you also. Please let us know as soon as all is well.
Morning Lynn - I will probably not join in with logging walking until I am more active. Posting about me having a head start was a joke I thought everyone might find funny. That weird Brit sense of humor.
Nanno - kind of nice interruption for you, I hope your day goes well.
Nanc - all that mulch shifting should help with the calorie burn!
Yvonne - sounds like a nice day ahead for you - enjoy.
As for me, woke up very sore this morning and that is continuing. I had my usual oatmeal and fruit mix for breakfast. I don't know what is coming for lunch because I think hubby is buying take out again! He will not be home this evening, he has to work so I told him getting dinner was okay and I will have a light snack for dinner. My boss called me this morning. It happens that she also gets the More magazine and is rounding up some back copies for me to look through, that will be fun.
My husband bought a big thing of Diet Lipton Green tea yesterday when he went shopping and I am sipping at that.. it is rather nice chilled in the fridge.

HELLO BEST FRIENDS
Well, DS is home for a week then back to the University for summer classes. I LOVE having him home but we've become comfortable empty nesters so our lives are tipsy tervy when he's home and so is our food comsumption ... Even getting in our walks has to be somewhat more creative
I'm doing my best though, and enjoying every moment with him. We've watched a couple of his old movie favorites with him. Those of you BEST ladies who still have children living at home, savor every moment. They grow away so fast
Well, even tho my walk was interruped yesterday, I'm enjoying being involved in this walk!! Since I normally walk with DH and he is "speed challenged" due to his disability, I'll just try to keep increasing my time out as speed is a lost cause.
Hi's going out to Nancy, Shantra, Yvonne and everyone else yet to post
