Mom Finished clinical trial..back to chemo

My Mom just finished her 9 week clinical trial for a biological agent which is an iv antibodies. Purpose for the study was to delay a recurrence because in Feb her ca-125 started to go up a little and CT scan showed iliace lymph node slightly enlarged. Now 10 weeks later her ca-125 is 76 and lymph node increased in size by only little bit. Its now 2 cm from 1.4 cm. So not much but a 20% increase which the doctor says thats when he recommends chemo when he sees 20% progression in the disease. So next week she begins her chemo of carbo/taxotere. Thankfully she went 1 year since her last chemo but I think her recurrence started in Feb but anyway it still makes her platinum sensitive. So the only positive of it all is that she is still platinum sensitive and from what the CT scan shows and her ca-125 that she has a slow growing cancer. Im thankful for that.
Now we have to adjust our lives back to chemo and I know how much that upsets my Mom including all the nasty side affects. She will still be in the clinical trial for the anitbodies her onclogist believes that it may prolong a second remission.
She also wants to maybe get a human hair wig this time so if anyone knows where to get them for a good price please let me know.
thanks
Fiana

Mom Finished clinical trial..back to chemo

Dear Fiana,
I had taxotere & carboplatin & I found it to be any easy chemo. I had few side effects. I got nauseated twice, both self inflicted. Constipation, so have your Mom do the stool softeners. Metallic taste which I ate spicy food & that helped. Slight joint pain that I took advil for. Of course the tiredness that only lasted a day or two. I did start to lose my hair 3 weeks after my first chemo. I am so glad she has done so well in the clinical trial.

Fiana, I hope your mom does well on her chemo treatments. The time does seem to drag on as we go to continual doctor visits, blood work and further treatments. You are a dear, walking through this with your mom. Keep encouraging her and keeping her faith up.
