Concerned, post cancer surgery check up question?

Hi (((Sisters)))

How are you all today? I hope God is blessing you and you're having a GREAT day despite the woes of life.

I had my gyne check up this morning. It has been 8 momths since my uterine cancer surgery. She did a pap smear. I came home from my appointment and had to go to the bathroom. When I wiped I seen some light pinkish tinge on the toilet paper. Now I know one of the signs to watch for for uterine cancer recurrence is vaginal bleeding.....so my question is this something normal after a pap smear 8 months after surgery, or is this a sign my cancer is back.

This has me now having a major cancerhead scare going on. I hope you all can ease my mind. I'm hoping things are just still maybe tender inside from the surgery causing this. Please ease my mind

Thank you so much.
Hugs

From the exam

No doubt it is from the exam.

If it continues or gets worse, it would be something to call the doctor about but since you just had an exam it should clear up soon.

As Ellen says, "Don't waste a good panic."

Relax and enjoy your no further treatment status.

Hugs,
Kate

P.S. If you had cancer, the doc would have noticed it. I've read that more recurrences are picked up by a doctor's exam than by a PAP.

BTW... gyn-onc use a smaller spectrum so that doesn't happen as much.

I had the same thing happen a couple weeks ago during my followup pap.

I was told I could "spot" after my last pap a couple weeks ago. They do pinch off a little piece of tissue in there and it can bleed. I think this is because the gyn had to mess with that part of your body. She would have seen if something was going on that was causing blood. Did she tell you anything? Try not to worry and give it a couple days to see if the blood goes away before calling her back, or better yet, call their office today and ask about it so you can feel better over the weekend. Hopefully it is nothing to be troubled over. Best to you!

It's probably related to the pap test. Also, sometimes vaginal thinning can lead to spotting; however,if one were on estrogen therapy (pills creams ) thinning is less likley to occur or cause problems. If you remain concerned, why not give your doctor a call; the doc will understand.

Hi (((Sisters)))

Gosh you girls are all live savers. I cannot thank you enough for responding. I feel SO much better after reading your replies to my thread. It has already gotten so light you can hardly see it now..whew! She didn't say I would possibly spot. As I said, it was a very light pink tinge and now I have to really look to see any color.

Thanks again for making me feel better. Now I wait the pap results, but I am not going to let it bring me down waiting for it.

You all have a wonderful day. I so appreciate the info.

Hugs

Hi K9,

yes, uneventful is great! You made a good point there. The spotting stopped within 2 hours of the exam and I never had it back....so it was the exam..whew!

I'm glad your appt. snuck up on you and you weren't thinking about it. That is great and a good sign it's finally behind you. Continued good luck!

Hugs
