Bleeding @ week three - should I be concerned?

This is my first chat/forum. But I have a question that I am hoping someone can answer or tell me they are experiencing the same.

I had a Laproscopic/Vaginal Hysterectomy, which due to complications (ovary attached to bowel), turned into an Abdominal Hysterectomy on April 23, 2007. I was not experiencing any vaginal bleeding by day four and began bleeding again on day 7 due to my first bowel movement (very large - sorry to be so detailed ). I have had daily vaginal bleeding (spotting - light) with each bowel movement, passing of gas, and throughout the day. I am at week three of recovery right now. I expressed concern at day 10 to the doctor, but am wondering - does everyone experience daily vaginal bleeding up to six weeks? Should I be concerned that is slightly more than spotting and that is happens several times, daily?

Anyone that can help calm my fears, I would appreciate it!

My "spotting" lasted 5 full weeks. I was going into the 6th week when I finally stopped. Sometimes, it was heavier than others, sometimes darker. I had an Tah I didn't have any bleeding while in the castle, but about a week into it is when I started. As we got closer to the 5 week mark, I noticed that my spotting corellated to heavier activity. I think what you are experiencing sounds normal.

If you're really concerned about the bleeding, the best thing you can do is contact your doctor. Although ladies can experience bleeding and/or spotting at all different times throughout their recovery, I really wouldn't like to say it was definitely normal in your case, as everyone is different.

You may like to check out this HS article Bleeding Post-Op which I hope will help with some information.

Take care and please don't hesitate to contact your doctor if you experience any deterioration.

You should let yoyr doctor know, but bleeding can last for a long time. I had bleeding for 6 weeks and it was as heavy as a period for at least 4.

I wore pad 1st day after surgery in the hospital and had no bleeding after that. I don't know if what you are going through is related to the bowels, but make sure you get plenty of water and fiber. Always contact the doctor if you are unsure.
