Anyone have a problem with Sciatic Nerve?

I had my TVH plus A & P Repairs May 1st. Everything went well until I tried to stand up. It appears they stitched my sciatic nerve during the repairs and I had to go back for surgery May 3rd They had to take out two stitches from one side which means there is only one stitch left on that side. I went for another check up last week and they gave me injections into the area to break the pain cycle Then told me they may need to take out the other stitch which will compromise the repair and then they will need to think of another procedure. I don't want to go through all this again. Have any other princesses had anything like this? What results did you have, I don't want to limp around forever, I did this to get a life, now I feel like I've made things worse.

Anyone have a problem with Sciatic Nerve?

Hi

I'm so sorry you had this complication from your surgery

Your post has been moved from Friends Without Faces over here to the Post-Op Forum (since you are so early post-op). Hopefully another Princess will come along here and share a similar experience.

Personally, I do have sciatic pain on my right side. It's not related to injury from surgery, however....but something that has developed over the last few years. I have to be very careful about not lifting too much, and I have found that anti-inflammatory medication is a big help.

I hope you find relief soon.

Sending healing 's

Anyone have a problem with Sciatic Nerve?

I had sciatic nereve on my right side for 8 years pre-op, then it went away right after surgery. Now it only flairs up every once in a while! I used to have to take steroids to get it to stop hurting. You have my sympothy, because that is an AWFUL pain!!! i will keep you in my prayers!! HUGGGGGGGS!!!

Anyone have a problem with Sciatic Nerve?

I never had this problem until after my TAH. I am sorry it can be very painful. My Dr said I shouldn't use a stepper when I work out that work out machine can make it worse.

Anyone have a problem with Sciatic Nerve?

Did they fix your bladder or suspend your cervix from your sacrel ligament? If so, sometimes they get this too tight and stiches have to be let out, too. At first, I could not even walk because of the pain. It was not sciatica, because I have had that before and yet it felt a lot like sciatica due to the location I am wondering if they actually got the sciatic nerve, or if they attached something to the sacrel ligament and this is actually what is bothering you.

My deepest sympathy to you. My dr. told me it happens occasionally and he has to let a stich out. Mine just seemed to get better in a few weeks. I hope that is the case for you. Also, you may consider physical therapy. A good therapist can actually work with the muscles and the areas around the nerves and stretch out things that are causing you issues, eliminating the need for surgery. I went to a good therapist who was also trained in alternative techniques, following a car accident, and I could not believe the success she provided to me. (she also did this technique called Matrix Repatterning, which really works)Good luck!!!
