Pudendal Nerve Damage

I previously posted about my problem with mesh eroision. Thanks to all who responded. I also had a Rt Apogee rectocele repair. I have had rt pubic pain that radiates into my buttocks since my first surgery in Dec 06. I have had negetive MRI and Pelvic Ct. My DR says it is a pundeal nerve and we have injected it twice so far without relief. Has anyone had problems with rejection of the rectocele graft? All of my GYN problems have been put on hold because I had to have my gallbladder removed. I cannot take pain meds everything I take upsets my stomach. I just went through a GI work up(Erosive Gastritis) because of them and that was taking it sparingly. I also have RA (Rhumatoid Arthritis) and have been off may meds since Dec because of the risks of infection. I wish I would have found this site before my surgery. It is so informative and finding others who are having simular symptoms make one feel not alone. I was praying and I believe I was lead to this site

Pudendal Nerve Damage

Hi Minonna,
I'm so sorry you're having all these problems. Sounds like the road that never ends right?
I have had both mesh erosion and rectocele mesh rejection. I have continuous vaginal and rectal pain (which is worse than the vaginal pain) since the second prolapse repair in April 06 and have had 5 Pudendal Nerve Blocks since then. None of them have had any affect at all except they seem to increase my appetite and therefore I have had weight gain with each of the injections. I have not really gotten a clear diagnosis for the cause of this pain yet. My wonderful Gyn has been with me every step of the way and has set up a third opinion with another Uro/Gyn who works with a colorectal specialist.
Has your Dr tried you on any medications like Neurontin, Elavil, Ultram yet or just the nerve blocks so far? Have you tried Pelvic Floor therapy yet? If not it might be a good idea to get a referral to see a therapist. There are lots of treatments to try. Unfortunately the diagnosis of Pudendal Nerve disruption is more of a trial and error diagnosis because there doesn't seem to be any one test that is sure to diagnose it. Good luck.

Pudendal Nerve Damage

Mionna,
's to you. I do not have any answers about the mesh erosion, however right before my surgery was scheduled I found out by way of many GI tests that my gallbladder was nonfunctioning. So I decided to have that done first and postponed my hyster/repairs. Well I waited 6 weeks between the surgeries. My heartburn is about 45% better. Now they want me to do another test for another surgery. I'm very leary. However the gallbladder surgery itself was a piece of cake. So if you have your gallbladder out, it usually is done lapro and outpatient. I went back to work a week later. Good luck, I know some M.E.S.S. sisters will come along with great information and experience to help you.
