I Do Have to Do a Bowel Prep

I had my pre-op dr appt and pre-admit hospital appt yesterday. I found out that I do have bowel prep, so that means I won't be able to work the day before surgery. However, it should be better that way...now I can take the time to get a pedicure (hospital said any nail polish is fine), pack my hospital bag, and tidy-up stuff around the house since I'll be stuck at home anyway.

I also stressed to the dr. that I no way wanted a mini-period and he said that he will remove as much of the cervix as possible and will cauterize it and there will be a very minimal small chance of monthly bleeding, so I went ahead and agreed to leave the cervix and have the LSH procedure. He agreed that I will still need to be off of work for 6 weeks because I have a three hour commute everyday, so my work days are at least 12 hours. So, now everything is set for my castle trip.

Question, do you think it is okay for me to have any alcohol this weekend or would you not have any because of the surgery on Wednesday? Neither the dr. nor the hospital said not to, but I'm curious.

I think drinking this weekend would be ok as long as you don't overdue it. Since your surgery is not till Wed., it should be out of your system. If you are that concerned, I would call your doc's office just to confirm it. I had a laparoscopy last year to remove an ovarian cyst, and I drank up until midnight (my cutoff on eating and drinking) because I was at a company party. Mind you that was not major surgery but everything was ok. Enjoy yourself this weekend! It will be awhile before you can have some fun again. Good luck with your surgery!

I Do Have to Do a Bowel Prep

Thanks Ladies, I like to have a few Coors Lights while I do housework and we usually have a BBQ on the weekend, and I would like to be able to do that this weekend. No overdoing it though. The hospital nurse said that the main thing is to stay hydrated the day before as that helps with having a general.
