My First Big Anniversary!

I guess any day could be an anniversary for something, good or not so, when it comes to these dreaded women's diseases. Well, I am now officially headed into my One Year Anniversary of my total hysterectomy and BSO because of uterine cancer. It all happened so quick I can still hardly believe any of it. But then again I wonder where I would be now had I not been labeled a "complainer!" (I also have quit smoking since my day at the castle. That is still tough at times, but so far so good!)

So I am hanging out with NED now, and we are going to be working a music store booth just outside Yosemite, watching shows, jamming, and camping at an acoustic music festival all next week. (Come to think of it, it will be the first camp-out in years that Aunt Flo didn't annoyingly come tag along with me ...YAY!!!) I missed all the festivals last year because of my cancer operation and recovery, so I am headed out with more renewed enthusiasm towards my commitment to work, and hopefully less obligation. I am planning to have a survivor jam party in my camp on Friday night after the shows to acknowledge this one year mark and celebrate the moment.

This year has been a mixed bag of physical challenges and emotions, but I think I did pretty good all things considered. I know all about having false alarm cancer-head as in addition to having UC I had a biopsy in my mouth (dx benign capillary hemangioma), I also had a biopsy of my labia (dx fat cell tumors and cysts), exrays of my abdomen (for complaints thinking it might be adhesion or hernia ...ended up I was full or "it"), three UTIs, and last week a colonoscopy (dx diverticulosis). Now my main complaint is arthritis (or fibromyalgia) that is just screaming! Each time I feel some discomfort it crosses my mind that perhaps some cancer cells may have escaped undetected from even my 1A1 staging. But also each dx that tells me it is NOT cancer eases my mind just that much more. My guard is still up, but I am feeling more and more like I am heading out of the woods! (And Mr. Cancer Head has left the building!)

Well, I am off to get ready to go. I will check back here before I leave and when I come back. I am absolutely addicted to this site and I am so grateful to all of you for your help and insight during this past year. If I can possibly be of any help or assistance to any of you please PM me! Thanks to all, and my deepest and sincerest well wishes and hopes go out to each and every one of youse and I hope every day is a bit more easier than before.

Thanks! -Terri
