All of this is a little scary!!!

I am glad I found this site. I am still in the learning process about my "condition". I get my second opinion next week. After freaking out when I could feel my cervix, my gyno confirmed that I have stage 1 prolapse of the uterus, stage 2 bladder and stage 1 rectum. Geez, what fun!!! I am not afraid, until I read alot of these posts of all the potential problems!!! I am trying to figure out when to have surgery, when can I sit still for 6 weeks? Drive after 2? WHAT?? Geez, we have 4 kids (all over 13 at least), and a grandson. I know it is only going to get worse. I have to figure out what I want to do. At least most things are normal as to working correctly. I feel for all of you, and what an experiance this is going to be!!!

Tammy,
You are right to make sure you pick a good time for you to have surgery, you do need time to heal and pamper yourself. Luckily - waiting usually won't hurt anything.
Please do your research, my first doctor told me I was totally healed after 8 weeks, my cystocele failed at 11 1/2. So the 2nd time, I found a uro/gyn and he was very cautious with the restrictions and I followed them to a tee. No driving for 4 weeks, but also no shopping, cleaning for 6 weeks. Also no going anywhere but door to door service for 6 weeks. Also I wasn't to do anything but walk for 6-12 weeks. Then a lifetime restriction of not lifting anything heavy off the ground, no squatting and lifting and also no leaning to the side and lifting anything heavy.
So do your homework and make sure you can take the time to heal correctly - if not wait until you can. You don't want to do this twice. Hugs.

Hi and welcome!

From everything I have read I would say that obeying lifting restrictions is the best thing you can do to ensure success for prolapse surgery. This is borne out by my stepson telling me that he was once watching a weight lifting competition and one guy lifted a heavy weight and had an instant, messy and pretty nasty prolapse!! Okay that was heavy weight but it tells me that weight plays an important part.

I am 4 weeks out tomorrow. Not allowed to do anything but walk. Not allowed to lift heavier than 10lbs and then I have a lifetime restriction of 25lbs. That to me is fine. I will be able to do toning strength training just have to do a lot of repetitions and anything else can be handled by others.
