Suggestion for those having problms with Bowel Movements afer Surgery
Hi,
I read a lot of sisters having BM problems after surgery and I have a suggestion. I have been constipated my whole life and thought I could share this suggestion with you. I tried everything natural and what the doctors have recommended. Nothing worked for me, not even the fiber supplements. I didn't want to become dependent on Laxatives or stool softners. I decided to try 100% STONEGROUND WHOLE WHEAT BREAD (read it somewhere or something LOL ). It has to be 100% STONEGROUND WHOLE WHEAT for me. I have to say it has been a Godsend. I have 2 slices a day in any way I can whether it is a sandwich or toast etc. I also drink a lot of water like many but it never helped on its own. If you are desperate enough to get things moving, I suppose its worth a try. It works for me. It is just bread. Helped me within a day or 2 and I NEVER miss it, as when I have skipped it, I would have problems again, so I know it is the bread doing the trick. I use the EarthGrains brand but I would think any brand should work, as long as it is 100% STONEGROUND WHOLE WHEAT. I Have continued eating it since I came home and have had no problems in that department. I would be interested if anyone tries it and what their outcome is. Hope this helps...
I also hope everyone is taking care of themselves and are doing well
Hugs...

I'll have to check that one out. Tonight I am trying Smooth Moves Herbal Tea that someone recommended back when I was on the pre-op threads. I think the bowel problems are especially worse for those of us that had terrible adhesions and had blockages or colon repairs that needed medical attention.
The tea doesn't taste too bad -- it has a slight licorice flavor but not overwhelming. The label says to drink it at bedtime. My only fear is that I'll wake up in the middle of the night and have to poo and I've been having such a terrible time with sleeping as it is.
Will let you know if I think this gets my 'Queen of the Colon Woes' seal of approval in the a.m. Good night, ladies.

Wow ! I am getting showered and running to store to pick that up. I too had problems
before surgery and after Doc said what ever you do don't get constipated but the only
thing that work is MOM and I don't want to take everyday. I drink plenty of water
eat lots of fiber and take stool softiners but its not working. The doc said I can take
the MOM everyday and it won't hurt but I don't like gettign dependent on it. So I will
for sure try that bread I love wheat bread but nobody else hear does so I will eat
the whole loaf myself. Thanks for info.......Will keep you posted...
