My 23 year old daughter just hurt my feelings :(

She told me that she thinks I am using my surgery as an excuse to not want to go anywhere or do anything and that she thinks I am not getting better quicker because I like getting sympathy from people. I read her email and just started sobbing. I have told you gals how insensitive my husband is...well my loving daughter told me she is tired of hearing how mean her dad is and that she is tired of me acting like I am the one who is right all the time. This has totally thrown me. I have already been having a rough time with anxiety and panic attacks and hot flashes and depression, then I have to hear this today....and the thing is, none of it is true. I am just having a rough recovery...if you haven't been through a hysterectomy you can't possible know how horrible recovey can be for some women...I am just in shock that she said these things to me today...and I am very hurt...I'm already depressed, I didn't need this today.

I'm so sorry that your feelings got hurt by your daughter. I know how it feels for someone you love to say hurtful things at the worst possible times. Hang in there and take care of yourself. I know it's easier said than done, but try not to let her words bother you right now.....It will only slow the healing. I'm sorry you are having to go through this.

I'm so sorry. Our recovery is hard and it's not any easier when we hear insensitive things like that! I don't have any good advice for you, other than to say I'm really sorry. Even if the people in your life don't understand what you're going through, the women here do, so you've got a big cheering section here.

Can you call her and talk to her? It's better than emailing one another because you will be able to hear the tone of her voice. Recovery is more difficult for some women. Ask her to visit Hystersisters.com and read some of the threads in the post op forum. She may have no clue about hysterectomy recovery. Please call her and don't let this ruin your mother/daughter relationship.

Wow. I'm sorry sorry you are having to go through this at the same time as your recovery. You are in my thoughts and prayers. When you're both feeling a little stronger emotionally, why don't you invite to to read some of the posts on this website so she can see that it is a very difficult time for you. In the end, whether your family understands or not, you have to do what's right for you. Don't let anyone push you.

I am so sorry that these things have been said to you and by the people you love. I had my Laparoscopic Supracervical Hysterectomy on Friday May 25th, 2007. My husband last night, who cannot wait to go back to work, told my 12 year old that mommy was fine and can do everything like before. I was shocked! Yes it has been a really easy recovery, but I am not tip top shape 4 days after! I don't understand why people seem to think that surgery is something easy to get over.

I, too, have been told that I have been using my surgery as an excuse, and that was from my 25 yr old daughter. I have suffered from severe major depression (that was the diagnosis) for about 8 yrs, & hearing that from your daughter can be devastating when you are feeling bad & hurting from the surgery anyway. I also had a TVH due to an enlarged uterus (found that out today) & excessive bleeding (that I was hospitalized in Jan. for). I think that since we don't have external stitches, then the surgery was no big deal. I went for my 6 wk today, & the DR. stated that this was major surgery, whether we believe it or not. He still informed me that even though he has released me from alot of things, that we are still healing for many months after & to take it easy.
I have had my daughter read some things on here & also to read some articles. I think that she has a better understanding. Maybe that would help.
Hang in there & we are all here for you. I know that this site has helped me GREATLY!!!

I did not feel up to par until 6 weeks. My husband even doubted why I was not cooking. Pizza and mac and cheese again even at 5 weeks.

It does get better. At 6 weeks I was back to normal. People don't understand.
