Cyst on Ovaries "Should I have my Ovaries Removed?"

I am 41 years old, two years ago I had a partial hyst. Two months ago I had pain on my right ovary. The sonogram showed a normal cyst, now I went back for another 3 days ago and it has grown looking like a pear and plus two tiny cysts on my left ovary. He suggested I go see a GYN Oncologist, so I went yesterday and have been in bed gazing out the window wondering what to do.
He suggested to remove the cysts and keep one ovary for "hormone" but what in two months another cysts comes back? I am afraid they could be cancer. How do really know for sure what these little rascals are? I have pain now in my left ovary and cannot sit for very long or stand for very long. I feel heaviness in my lower back, I wonder why I am in this uncomfortable pain? I am always tired (maybe depression). I feel like Im dying. My son passed away one year ago from cancer and Im so scared.

s Michele,

I'm so sorry about your son.

I think it all depends on how old you are. I know surgery is no picnic, but neither is menopause. If it were me, I would most likely go with the gyn/onc's recommendation. If you're having doubts, it certainly can't hurt to get another gyn/onc opinion.

Good luck.

Dear Michelle, take it one day at a time. This is a shock to us all when we first hear and are trying to absorb all the info and make decisions. Listen to your docs, the gyn/onc knows his business, they are the specialists. Do you have family available to you? A support group of friends or coworkers? You will need some emotional support at this time as I am sure it will bring back memories of your son and your grief there as well. God bless, dear friend.
