Dance with NED is over

I just got the reults of my CT scan and they are not good. Small nodules on lungs and liver. Also a new tumor in pelvis and l nodules along incision. The gyn/onc doesn't want to do surgery. He is sending me back to the gen Onc for chemo. Knowing the nature of this disease, I knew it could happen, but my DH is taking it hard. I'm thinking of getting a second opinion, but don't know if it will be helpful.

Love to all,
Marcia

Marcia, I am so sorry to hear this. You have been so strong and heroic in all your treatments with a great spirit to survive. I know there are other options out there for you and I hope your gynie/onc is on top of the best plan for you to knock those yucky cells out and claim another victory.

Ooooffff!

Ah, Brighton....Marcia. I'm sorry.

Yes, I think you should get a second opinion. You never know when a different gyn-onc will have knowledge about a new treatment or a clinical trial which might be exactly what you need.

Don't give up. Did you watch the Discovery Show, "Living with Cancer?" A second doctor suggested a new treatment for one man and it made all the difference in the world.

An acquainance's aunt is a multi-year survivor even though she was originally told she only had a few months back in 1999 or 2000.

Hugs and prayers to you and your family,
Kate

Are you within driving distance of a comprehensive cancer center? They could give you not just a second opinion but also they would have clinical trials for you.

Shame on NED--but wait'll you meet NERD (no evidence of recurrent disease).

Marcia, I'm so sorry that you got such news. I will be praying that you will just be sitting it out from the dance floor for just a couple of songs and will soon be dancing again!

I agree with the others that a second opinion would be a good idea. I hope you find a treatment plan that works for you very soon.

Please take care!

Marcia,
I am sorry to hear your news. I would encourage you to get a second opinion. I agree with Margaret that a comprehensive cancer center would be a great place to go. It has been my experience that it is very easy to get an appointment at one and, if necessary, you can self refer. Like most problems that need to be worked, getting different perspectives is a very important step in managing this chronic disease.

Wishing you serene moments and a good medical game plan!

So sorry to hear of all your troubles, Marcia. I have a 'thought for the day' on the wall in my office which I would like to share with you. It's a quote from Margaret Thatcher and seems a good reminder to keep with you on this journey: "You may have to fight a battle more than once to win it."

Keep fighting the good fight! We are right here with you! Prayers and good thoughts, hon.

God bless.

Marcia
Recurrances can be managed. Seek as many opinions as you need to decide surgery, chemo, or clinical trial. You will find a treatment for you.

Hang in there.

How big are the nodules in your lungs? Are they sure they are cancer? My lungs are filled with all sorts of "stuff" I am having cts every 3 months, but no one will say recurrence yet.

I would definitely seek another drs opinions.
