Howdy neighbor!
Golly, Gretna is so small... I wonder if we know each other!! I know we're not supposed to mention doctors or hospitals --yet I'm wondering if you were at the hospital closest to us.
Thanks for the good wishes! How has your recovery been?
Best to you,
Beseda

It sounds like things went well for you. I'm so happy that's the case!
LOL, as my time approaches, I may be bugging you for hints and guidance for a successful hospital stay... since, well, you have actually BEEN THERE!
See you around!

I'm back after so long, sorry
Hello, it's been awhile, I know. Haven't felt like sitting at my computer chair alot lately. The surgery went fine. They're doing pathology and hope to have a good report. I've been trying to chase away the fatigue, to no avail. I feel like a slow moving whale, right now. I am trying to convince myself that this too, will pass. A year from now, I will remember this and be thankful it is over. My teens come and go and are enjoying the fast moving summer; fair, swimming, etc... So I am a little bummed. I tried a car ride; that was painful, I felt every little bump! I still have ovaries; but I feel a little off in the hormone area. Sorta weepy, edgy, bummy. I hope this doesn't last too much longer. Well, does anyone have any tips to beat this? Am I allowed to do the chocolate thing? LOL!

lorz7,
Hi! I am so glad you are back!! I was so worried about you.
I don't know what your DR would say, but if there was no chocolate restriction, eat eat eat!!!
I was feeling better yesterday than I am today, but I think it must go in waves at first. I too am feeling the weepy thing, it is weird. I do have my ovaries but they haven't been attached to my U for almost 18 years, so it can't be like they are missing one another...tehe Must just be the time element.
If you want to talk for an extended amount of time, e-mail me. You can find mine by clicking on my name.
I'd really like to be there for you if you like.
I really am glad to see you here. I think that coming back (as soon as you were able) is a step off the emotional, healing roller coaster.

A few tips from my surgery experience
I have a few things to share in the way of tips.
1. research the idea of IV given pain meds versus an epidural type of pain solution. ( I did not research this before I went in. They asked me my preference and I have never had one before. I went with the IV pain med route.)
2. Buy some larger sized 100% cotton brief undies. They are better and don't rub on the site if you have a TAH.
3. I am so thankful for the cell phone that my son got for me just before my surgery. I was able to call family etc.. without alot of hassles.
4. A big pillow to lay between my knees at night really helps me sleep comfortably.
5. Stay away from gassy foods. Use the gas-x strips that you lay on your tongue.
6. I had a hard time the first day opening my eyes after surgery. It would be better if visitors came at the end of the first day or the second day.
7. And read this site (pre-op). I really gives alot of helpful hints etc... And the people are so encouraging.
Well, these are just a few that I can think of that I hope will be of help.

((Ladies))
Just a reminder ~ the "Neighborhood" forums are intended for social chatter or arranging local get-togethers only, and not for hysterectomy support or related issues. (Please check out the forum descriptor). We ask that those discussions be conducted in the appropriate forums ~ this is to avoid missing out on the awesome support available elsewhere on the site in, for example, the <links> Pre-Op and Post-Op forums!
Many thanks for your understanding and co-operation in support of the ((sisterhood)).

Sorry,
I am new at this forum, posting stuff, & I didn't realize that I was not following guidelines when I wrote my post. How do I or can I delete a post?

Please don't worry! It's very difficult (if not impossible) to be aware of all the guidelines and I'm afraid members can't delete their posts, but that's really not necessary anyway. With a site of this size ~ with so much amazing information! ~ it's important that we try to keep it organised.
It would be wonderful if you could share your surgery experience with those "ladies-in-waiting" who need support, in the Pre-Op Forum, and did you know we have a <link> Hints for you Hysterectomy sub-forum there, also? That would be a perfect spot for you to pass on any tips ~ for everyone to enjoy!
Sending all good wishes as you continue to heal!
