My date is set...YIKES!

I am very new to this website. I have been reading the posts and have found them very informative. I have put off setting a date for several months now, in the hopes to find an alternative. After months of doing research, I have decided to go with the hysterectomy. I will have a TAH on 7/11/01. I had a very hard time excepting this, since my husband and I did want more children. I am a nervous wreck, but with the help from a member of this website that I accidentally met through email and she also told me about this site, I am more at peace with my decision than I ever will be. I look forward to visiting this site more often and will probably be posting a lot more after my surgery. Good luck to everyone!

I'm new to the site too, and like you, just got my date, which is a week before yours, July 5.
Unlike you, I did not wait or think about it very long. So really, I can relate to "Yikes."
I find that I can be brave and tell my family and friends that I am not anxious or afraid, but most of them cannot understand, unless they've been through it, right? So I find this site very comforting and there is nothing like support from other systers.
Keep coming back to the boards.
My pre-op consult is tomorrow. Still many questions.

Good luck Ann. I will be thinking of you. I also think that nobody really understands the stress and effect this has on you unless they have been through it. But, I am thankful that I have a family that is very supportive. Let us know how your pre-op consult goes.
