how long hospital stay?

I just got my approval letter for the operation from the insurance company. It said TWO DAYS in hospital. I couldn't believe it. (TAH). I called the doctor and his nurse said that was standard now, that they wanted you up and out.

Anyone expecting anything different?

how long hospital stay?

My gyn's standard is 5 nights. I was out in 3 because my gyn said I was recovering so well even though I wasn't ready physically, mentally, or emotionally. I could have been out in 4 or 5 instead.

how long hospital stay?

Hi!
I had a TVH/BSO at 7:00 AM on a Monday and went home Wednesday afternoon. I could have stayed for dinner because the hospital days from midnight to midnight...but the food was so awful (the only thing I could complain about at my hospital, fortunately), I didn't bother! That is pretty standard for a TVH/BSO..and I believe my doctor said it would be one more night, probably, for a TAH.

All depends on how we do, though...doctors can usually get extra days when needed even if the insurance companies have a standard number of days.

Keep reading, posting and talking everything over with your doctor!

how long hospital stay?

I had my TAh/BSO on 6/20 and came home on Friday about noon. I was ready. I am not a very good patient and really do better at home. My only problem now other than 1 staple pulling is that I feel pretty good and am not one to sit around.

how long hospital stay?

I am having a LAVH and my dr. said that I would stay two days. She said that Monday I have surgery, Tuesday is day 1 and Wednesday is day 2. If I need more for any reason she will make arrangements. If I wish to leave earlier she can do that too. I wouldn't worry about it, I think drs. can run interference with the insurance companies to get you more time if you need.

My TVH is scheduled as Outpatient

This is very related to my question. I just got my insurance approval letter and they have me listed as having my TVH with possible ovary removal as being outpatient. My Dr says that is 23 hour observation and not to worry, if I need more time they will get it but it sure seems like a very short time to be there.

I am scheduled for July 24th for fibroids, some prolapse and a left ovarian cyst. I am already starting to get nervous about this. The hyster isnt whats scaring me actuall, its the fear of losing my ovaries. I guess I am somewhat young to be having a hyster-I'm 34. The ultrasound showed nothing at all wrong with my right ovary but what if he gets in there and finds something? Is it possible when going vaginally to remove an ovarian cyst and not have to take the ovary too? The dr said he wouldnt know until he got in there. Just wondered if anyone had any similar situation.

Thanks so much!

how long hospital stay?

I am scheduled for TAH on Friday. My insurance company is only giving me two days also. My husband called and talked to them and they said my doctor could call and have more time approved if necessary. At first that was freaking me out too!! I had to stay longer for a gall bladder surgery and it worked out okay. My doctor says that I'm not a good candidate for vaginal hyst because I've had two c-sections and the risk of problems with scar tissue is too high.
