Talking - Sunny Sunday, 10 June Sunny Sunday, 10 June

Morning!

I must apologise for my absence, I've been finding it very hard lately to find any 'me' time. The kids seem to get to bed at the same time as me, and are up with me
My SIL has been very ill with some kind of virus all this past week and so I've been up MILs after work quite a few days, after cooking her a dinner as SIL is too ill to cook!

Anyway, here I am! I did get to the gym on weds, am keeping up my healthy eating, I have gained back 4 of my pounds I lost, but I think I'm winning the battle again! *sigh*

The weather her is lovely, I've promised Billy a nice walk along the canal later, so he shoul be happy with that!

Breakfast~ wholemeal toast
Lunch ~ toasted cheese sandwich
Dinner ~ chicken salad ??

I'm wanting to get to the local DIY centre today, to see if I can get a for the front room, since we had these new windows put in, is very warm in there.

Anyway, I must dash, the kettle's just boiled and I am really thristy this morning!

Have a lovely day all!

Good morning Fran... it's so good to have you back...sorry your SiL has been under the weather. It's nice to have them close by that you can help out. You're a good DiL.

Hi's to all the BEST friends following. It's a gorgeous sunny day here in Ohio. I'm up and getting my tea ready too.

The scale was kind this morning ...I'm down 4 pounds now and almost back to where I was the end of last summer when we were walking 4 miles a night. I've got to build back up to that. It will have to be after next weeks vacation. And I was wrong, DH has only lost 8, not 10 (of course he hasn't been on the scale yet this a.m. and knowing how he's going, he's probably down another!) It really is so much better with him focusing on losing also. He was always bringing home cookies and such for him...but I didn't have willpower to stay away either!

If anyone wants the haystack recipe, it's on the BEST recipe list now.

Gotta scoot and get ready for church...have a great day all.

Good sunday morning all,

Fran we missed you so happy you are back!!! Don't worry about the 4 lbs they will be gone in a snap.

I did scan the posts for the last two days while I was sitting on the bleachers in the gym cheering on the basketball team - lots happens in two days. WOW
Today is supposed to be rest day for me and then no food or drink after 8pm so the cancer center can get really accurate blood draws tomorrow morning at 7am. Today is DH and my "30" wedding anniv. so we will just go to dinner and a movie. We are worn out from the BB tournament and this week is full. Tomorrow DS16 starts his 75 hours community service for his bright futures scholorship so he and his friend (another basketball player) are working from 8-3 all week at a day basketball camp then coming home and going to either basketball practice of their own or a game. yes every day m-f. During the Day I have Doc appts twice. Then next week we get ready to go to the university of Fla for a 4 day tournament and Ihave my surgery, MRI and appt with the oncologist. Too much in short time. Meanwhile nothing getting done in the house or to the house - pressure on me. Think I will go walk. Great news is the summer is upon us and we will all be skinny by the end of summer - I will firm up - doc said not one more lb to be lost by me. But fruits and veggies are in abundance now so when you shop grab them by the pounds and chop them up. Don't forget the low fat ranch dressing and eat away. 5 a day. (servings).
Will check in with you later. Drink your water and if it is warm where you are drink more water and if no A/C drink even more water. Add a slice of lemon, lime, peach, mango to add flavor if you want an little flavor.
Have a great Sunday. Lynn

Good Morning BESTers!

I'm a little slow this morning. I don't think I slept all that well last night.

Yesterday I did all the exercise/chores I wanted to except cooking dinner. By about 3pm I was wiped out so I grabbed a beer and went out back to watch DH put up the pool. I ended up "helping" him by standing there and holding up the wall while he unrolled it and put it in the tracks. By then it was getting late, almost dark and wouldn't you know it, they didn't send us the hardware to connect the walls to the supports. :burning: He cleaned up while I came in and had a Lean Cuisine Pizza, took a shower and went to bed. The pool place is not open yet so he's off to Lowes to buy some hardware so hopefully he can finish today and we can start filling it.

Todays menu will be:

B - Light Multi-Grain muffin, EggBeaters, 2% Pepperjack and an orange
L - Probably Boca Burgers or Morningstar Farms Corn Dogs, leftover cucumber and tomato salad
D - the skinless chicken thighs I didn't cook yesterday, salad or brocoli and a potato of some kind

Exercise - I think I'm going to take it easy today and do some paperwork in the office instead. I plan on going in to work tomorrow for at least 4 hours and I want to be rested for it.

My bosses returned from their annual fishing tournament in the tha Bahamas this weekend. They always do really well, even sweeping the entire tournament two years ago. I'm hoping they did well again and will hook me up with some tuna and mahi like always. I usually end up with enough for about a month and it's always SO good and healthy.

I don't know everyone's name yet and think it was Melissa from last night who said she had never tried Boca Burgers. They are a must try!! Don't be chicken !! They are delicious and their Boca Lasagna is the Bomb!!

And waving to my neighbor Lynn in Winter Springs...I'm over in Melbourne!!

Have a Great OP day today ladies and Bottom's Up on the water. I'm almost finished with my fist 16oz.

Thumbs up - Sunny Sunday, 10 June Sunny Sunday, 10 June

Hi BESTers!

I got home from the castle yesterday and sore but otherwise doing well. I am not really in the mood to eat due to gas and back ache (had thought that the back ache didn't start for a few days yet, but . . .), so am focusing on high fiber (had DH get cranberry juice, prune juice, and stool softeners last night!) and trying to keep foods soft for a couple days.
I drank water like crazy in the hospital (and usually do at home) but since i have been home this time have had to remind myself to drink it.

Well, I am off to take a shower and get a pitcher of water! Enjoy your day!

Good Afternoon everyone,

Very nice day here in IL, should be mostly sunny and not too hot.

Well the empty nest is empty no longer . DS moved back in yesterday after finishing college need I say more.
He is starting to look at options for the future, right now he wants to fly in the Navy or Air Force, so he's getting the paperwork ready for that.

My gastric stuff is finally starting feel better .I still can't eat very much as it hurts a little going down. Right now I would prefer to be drinking my food than eating it and what I can eat has to be bland, so it doesn't taste great anyway. I've lost 5 lbs. this week, probably because I can't eat too much. The weight loss is good and I'm sure not gonna complain about that!!! Water intake has been really good...not drinking anything else.
I have been averaging 12,000-14,000 steps a day, so that's been good.
We are going to a Graduation/Farewell party today. Hope to do ok with the food there. May not eat, but wait till I get home.

Melissa~ This gastric reflux thing started when I took Cipro after surgery, It wasn't too bad then and I've been doing fine, until I took the GIANT vitamins about 3 weeks ago and it started again. They were regular women's 50+ vitamins and I have no idea why they bothered me , but it was the only new thing I started, so my doctor said it had to be what triggered it and vitamins can cause stomach problems.

Fran~ We missed you last week. Hope your good weather holds up. DH heads for the UK tomorrow.

Ali~ Congrats on the wieght loss for both you and your DH. Enjoy your vacation next week.

Dawn~ Enjoy your lunch with your GFs.

Lynn~ Congrats on DH and your 30th
What was the name of the protein drink that you use? I'm having a hard time getting in enough protein now.....I can't remember the name but I seem to remember it had a lot.

Julie~ enjoy your pool. Oldest DS lives in Hollywood area and said it has been hot down there!

Debbie~ Glad your doing ok after surgery. Make sure you don't over do it. Keep up with your

Well I've gotta run now, will check in later

Hi my Best Friends,
Did some :shopping:after church, mainly fruits and veggies. Later today we're taking a ride from our country setting "deeper in the country" and will walk the dogs (exercise for today) and also have a picnic-I've having a couple veggie dogs, "fake sugar"lemonade, serving of harvest sun cheddar chips(a little"badness" on a picnic is allowed),DH and the pups (very rare treat as not good for them-pups and DH) get real beef franks.
Fran- we missed you. Hope SIL is just about well by now.
Lynn-wow a 6 mile walk yesterday. given your doc's orders we now need to watch you to be sure you do not lose another pound- you're allowed to have some high cal foods each day. May your next two weeks of dr. apptments, tests, and the surgery all go well and those nasty headaches cease for good.
Ali - congrats on the 4 lbs lost; I'll be checking out the haystack recipe, thanks for posting it.
Dawn-enjoy your outing with your friends and put the "domestic work" stuff out of mind.
Julie- bummer re the missing pool parts but sounds like once you get them, the pool will be ready. Pls be careful re going to work too soon, hope your 4 hours tomorrow (which itself could be streching it) doesn't turn into 4 hours daily yet. Remember you're only 3weeks and couple days post op from a major surgery.
Debbie- hey, spanking new what are you doing sitting at a computer 1 day post op? Pls be very careful too. Sending good recuperation vibes to you.
Sharron-glad you're finally feeling better. congrats on the weight loss but may the next 5lbs down be minus an illness.
Desk- re yesterday's post, good for you re avoiding food traps and eating healthy. also, sounds like you have some very wise rescue community folk. Perhaps you might even want to consider putting your pup search on hold for awhile.
Melissa, hope you enjoyed the Lodge breakfast.
U-free- a day in the country can be fun. eating fast is a short-coming I share with you; have to really think about it. it's smart ot ease into things, incl exercise, after surgery.
to all that follow. May everyones Sunday be fun and stay OP.

Happy Sunday to all in BESTdom

My "me" day yesterday was just great... but, it ended up with us missing dinner as our neighbors came over for DH cooked the chicken kebobs, but since I didn't have enough to go around (really need to food shop), we skipped dinner. Not a good idea... but a good time was had by all.

Today... after much needed rest (went to bed around 1:30 this morning), we went out to the local Earth Day festival & got lots of great info. Walked for a solid 1 1/2 hours checking out the booths and the goodies. I refrained from having to eat out there because it was too easy to be bad. They did have a vegetarian booth this year, but it wasn't enough to entice me.

Breakfast today was pork roll on a kaiser roll (needed something to soak up the alcohol)... and lunch/dinner will be the chicken kebobs from last night. I'm going to grill a few baking potatoes to take with me to work this week -- add salsa & it makes a good meal for me... really do need to go food shopping but that will be another day/another time Still need to get the dogs out for their walk this evening.

Ali... congrats on the weight loss

Fran... hope SiL is doing better -- hope you're able to wrestle the computer away from the girls to stop by again soon

Dawn... how was your day out with the girls... just what you needed?

Lynn... you know -- you just make me plain 'ole tired after reading your posts... you're just like the engergizer

Iloveh20... hope you DH was able to find the parts needed & that you're able to enjoy the pool soon!!

Debbie... to BEST

flyergal... isn't it weird having your DS move back home?? It's funny how we get use to having them out on their own.

Peggiesue... the picnic sounds really nice. Never tried the veggie hot dogs -- how do they taste?

Hi's to everyone yet to come... I really do need to focus on some housework now

Hi BESTers

Stopping in before I lite the grill or DH. Which ever comes first. Lodge bkft; went well for the first one of the year. DH took money and supervised the "yard sale" they always have - an extra way besides the bkft to earn money for scholarship programs. I was VERY good and ate mindfully. I worked my tail off serving, setting places, and cleaning up.

Home to putz in the yard, visit to yack w/neighbors, and finally charged the pool filter. I'm ticked at DH cause he's made xtra work by using a bucket that had oil or gas??? spilled on the outside - dipped it into the pool and now I have one of those slicks? Men!!!!!! They never will learn. The pool is MINE MINE MINE - keep away - don't mess with my pool..... especially to make more work for me.

Bkft: 2 links (each 2"long) itallian sausage, 1 slice whole wheat toast, 1 scrambled egg, and 1/4 C cream chipped beef (so OK that was no OP but ) I had 2 cups hot tea.
WATER WATER ICED TEA WATER WATER I'm doing better in the fluids dept.
Lunch: bkft was big and I was NOT hungry.
Dinner: will be grilled fresh chicken patty on whole grain english muffin and green beans - maybe a couple pickled beets. More iced tea.

Not sure if I'll walk this evening - I'm still beat from starting work at 7am at the lodge. But perhaps just to get away from DH?? LOL

Debbie - your home. Now be a good princess and welcome to this side of Hysterhood. Behave yourself, eat healthy proteins w/veggies and fresh fruits, drink water, no excerise except until doc gives OK. Glad you did well.

Sharron - wow I've never heard of vitamins doing that. Interesting. How about protein smoothies? Easy on the throat. Very nutritious and not bad tasting. A LARGE container of Whey Protein (about 20-24 gms per scoop) in vanilla or choco can be gotten for around $14.00 at Walmart or Vitamin Shoppe. Makes a nice smoothie (for a meal replacement or snack) with crushed ice, fresh fruit and 1/2C 1% for skim milk. Use your blender. I enjoy them. The powder keeps forever in the cupboard.

Hi's to PeggySue, Sue, Julie, Fran (missed you!!), Nanno, Ali, Dawn, Lynn, Nancy, Margo, Desk, Emily, PJ, Cindy, Dany, Christy, U-Free (I think you ment to post here today?) .... ummmmmmm I've missed a few.......

Hugs - Melissa

gotta go light the grill - won't strangle DH right now - don't have the strength. Take my DH someone .... Please?????
