Miracles happen :)

I am quite pleasantly surprised with some of the changes that have occured since my surgery a week ago, Monday. I have always battled with my weight, and have never seemed to know what the feeling of full' means when I am eating. Since my surgery, I dont have an enormous appetite, and I don't crave the unhealthy foods! Rather my body is asking for healthy choices which is totally amazing to me!! I have gotten 'gifts of chocolate' from my friends, and haven't even been tempted by them whatsoever!
Another bonus, is my blood pressure is normal since last Monday!! I have been taking meds for high BP since September of last year, and now I don't need them. Hopefully this lasts!!!
Maybe this is all just temporary bliss, reaction to the anesthetic or whatever, but I am pleasantly surprised by the changes, and hoping they will last. Could all of this have been caused by my honeydew size uterus by chance?? Hope so

I also don't have the same appetite as before the surgery and same thing - I crave the "good foods". Might be the fear of constipation! I am eating lots of fiber, drinking lots of water and craving fruit. That being said, it's been 2 1/2 weeks since my surgery and I have started to nibble on the chocolates I was given. I seem to be satisfied after just a little though, where before I'd eat it all. Let's hope this continues - it would be a wonderful benefit! Take care,

Ditto for me. I am craving weird (for me) foods like cottage cheese and hummus. I've given up the diet sodas in favor of lots of water or diluted green tea. I've found that my appetite has gone up and down -- but I'm not eating as much as I did before and back to walking (just did 3 miles of laps while the kids played at the park.) I'm almost 4 weeks out and my bowels are still an issue for me. I really have to watch the fiber and water or I'm in agony with the gas pains.

After reading everything about surgical menopause, I hope to continue with the new trend of less food and better choices. Summer fruits are out and they sure look good. Also salads for dinner on the hot days sounds really appealing. I'm going to find ways of adding more calcium-rich foods so I don't end up looking like my grandmother w/her dowager's hump by the age of 55!

PS Hunie, you're good! I did eat the chocolates but tossed the centers and only ate the outer dark and milk chocolate shells. I find if it's not in the house I don't even miss it. Can't blame it on PMS anymore, now can we!!!

Omigosh! Same here - I have several bars of Godiva chocolate - haven't gone near them! I, too, am craving the healthy foods - apples, bananas, pineapple and cottage cheese. I even have ice cream in the freezer and don't want it!

I had lost about 11 pounds before my surgery and am hoping to continue. I wonder if our bodies are telling us what they need? We 'needed' chocolate before - now we need to good stuff.

Same here, just REALLY thirsty for sparkling waters usually and sometimes I add a splash of fruit juice or tea to them. And I do seem to be satisfied with smaller portions, too...I haven't weighed myself so not sure if I have lost or not though. Everyone is telling me that I look good though so maybe????

I have found the same thing too! I used to drink one can of soda pop a day (regular and/or diet) but have only had 1 since the surgery. I also haven't needed my peppermint tea for upset stomachs or my "help-me-sleep" tea either. Still crave potato chips though...but I don't eat them all in one sitting anymore!! Now that all of the pain and discomfort is gone, I have noticed that my face looks more calm, relaxed and without all the harsh worry lines I had before. Everyone says I look great and I believe them because I've noticed it too!

Same here!! I was the biggest sweets junkie before the surgery!! I have so far lost 12 pounds since I have been home and I haven't craved any sweets at all!!
I looked at the hormone board and it says that too much estrogen can cause the cravings for sweet things so I was assuming the lower estrogen levels were contributing to my new good food cravings...
