Newbie here on the surgery countdown!

Hello from a NC newbie!

I had a TVH in March 1999 - no problems until March of this year when I developed an ovarian cyst that decided to rupture and cause internal bleeding with HORRIBLE pain. (I take Coumadin, a blood thinner, for a heart condition which aided in the bleeding). A mass-o-cystjunk developed on my ovary and after watching it for 3 months, found that this fluid/junk had also gotten into & blocked both fallopian tubes - I think there are adhesions there as well.

So, I'm now scheduled for a laproscopic bilateral salpingectomy (sp?) which may possibly turn into a BSO, removing both ovaries as well. It will be on June 27th & I cannot wait! Since I'm already a heart patient (3 open heart surgeries in my lifetime thus far), the dr is hoping that she can save at least 1 ovary. There is also the tiny chance, at this point, that we're dealing with cancer and a cancer specialist from another city will be oncall that day in case they find anything in surgery. We won't need her!

There is really a HUGE question mark on my case -- I won't know anything for sure until I wake up. The unknown & waiting is the worst part isn't it? I have NO energy to do much of anything (thankfully I'm a housewife), not eating too well and can't sleep well either.... I cannot wait for the 27th to get here!

Amen on the waiting!!!!! My ovary & cyst - maybe both ovaries will be taken on 22nd. I have an appointment with the gyn/oncologist Monday. I finally called my general practioner and ask if they could give me something for the anxiety. I'm beginning to wonder if my hormones have already stopped working... I'll wake up, be fine for an hour and all of a sudden get weepy... and this rollercoaster of emotion continues until I go to bed (Which I didn't do well for about 5 days - so the doc threw in a few ambien as well!) I don't think I'm dwelling on the surgery, trying to keep on the go when I feel like it... but like you - just don't feel like doing much!

with you the best with your surgery... I hope both our ?s will be good news!

HI Carla, I agree waiting and not knowing is the pits. I will be praying that everything works out for you and that you have the least invasive surgery possible. It sounds like your dr is on top of things. There is some good information in resources that you may find helpful and will ease some of your presurgery jitters. I am wishing you the best. Please keep us posted. Lots of 's, Carol
