Pre-op today...NO bowel prep

I'm SOOOOOO relieved! It was VERY short, less than 1/2 hour. Signed some paperwork, talked her into taking my serum pg. test today (she said they'll have to repeat it again before surgery). I'm not toooo concerned, but there was one time that I'm worried about, and since my cycles are so irreg. I have no idea if the pain I felt last week was ovulation or if it was the constipation I had. Today's test was negative, so I'm hoping it is still on Tuesday!

Anyway, on track to head to the castle on Tuesday morning. They're calling Monday afternoon with the exact time. No food or drink after midnight, but I'll take Monday easy just to help the system out a little. Oh, and did I mention - no bowel prep?!

I am happy for you I know how relieved you are I dont have to do bowel prep either. I cant eat after midnight on Sunday and my LAVH isnt until 4pm on Monday but I would rather do that than drink and not eat Sunday or Monday.

Pre-op today...NO bowel prep

Hi ladies, I too had my pre op this past week and had no bowel prep. Guess every doctor is different ? who knows. Just had the routine paperwork signing, blood work done, etc. That made it very REAL of what was going to happen. Now I'm counting the days,,,,I go next Wednesday. Dr. did not tell me about a catheter (spelling) but I have read many women needed it, that had me worried, until I read about the "packing" in the vagina now I'm more worried about that.

Wish you all the best, this website is wonderful!!!

The nurse told me about the catheter and the pain pump, also the compression stockings (which are SO irritating!) but I haven't heard about the vagina packing. Is that only with vaginal hyst?

Tina520,
Most of us will at least wake up w/a catheter still in. I will have mine for at least a week... but the reason why is because my doc is having to do so much work down there, that I will be quite swollen.... which makes it very hard to tinkle If you aren't having any additional stuff done down there, the nurses "usually" take the cath out to see if you can go on your own... if you can, then that's it... you're done with it. The catheter issue is the same as the bowel prep issue.... each doc has their own preferences on how long their patient should have it in. This is just from my own personal experience. I hope this info helps a bit.
