Suprapubic catheter anyone else?

I had a foley catheter for 2 weeks following my surgery. There are some advantages...you don't have to get up to go to he bathroom, it reminds everyone that you are still healing and it is an excuse to wear PJ's or lounge pants . Just trying to put a smile on your face. My only advice is be sure that it is always functioning properly, mine got clogged and oh my ...that was a 9 on the pain scale. I also developed a UTI from it. Good luck and stay strong!!!

stilll have that catherer too

My surgery was on the 12th also and yesterday I went in for staple removal OUCH!!!! & I thought I was going to get this thing taken out of me too but alas my shy kidneys didn't work when they were expected too & now the next option is next Tuesday. I HATE it! I wear a leg one during the day which I have to empty pretty near every hour & we all know how much fun it is getting up & down from a chair or bed & then at nite I have the BIG one so not really a place for that one with jammies since you hang it on the side of the bed. The absolute worst part is always feeling like ya gotta go NOW!!!! & yet I still have the joy & "convenience" of that catherer. life pretty much ***** right now & I hate everybody who says Tomorrow will be better cuz it ISN"T!!!

Suprapubic catheter anyone else?

oh, yah. the memories, the cath in the hospital. never had to go pee. once out and home, i had the urge or feeling of going every two hours. guess things were just moving around down there. thing is, i'd take that painful walk to the potty room, and only a few drops. did it know how difficult it was to get out of bed to have to go and i only had a few drops ? 17 times a day ? ? ? hope all is well for all of you and i won't tell weze that tomorrow well be better. i know what she means.
