Pregnancy Test 2.5 yrs post Hyster?
Had to have my overies out yesterday, but one of the labs they did was a pregnancy test! Is this just a routine thing that they do, is there anyway to dispute it?
I know from past surgeries, that this test is about $85 and I feel was totally unnecessary. Is there another reason a doc would order this test before surgery?
Thanks,
Deb

Pregnancy Test 2.5 yrs post Hyster before ovary removal surgery?
 Deb,
It's probably a standard test that the hospital does. I think some hospitals just have a standard list of pre op tests. I know I have had to give a urine sample before many of my post hyst surgeries, but never received a copy of results so don't know if they were doing a pregnancy test or not.
Just curious, how do you know it was a pregnancy test?

Pregnancy Test 2.5 yrs post Hyster before ovary removal surgery?
I asked my nurse and she said she thought it was odd that they did a pregnancy blood test since I had already had a hysterectomy. The doctor ordered it, and I think he did it out of habit. The ticker is, that now I am going to have to pay for it. The last blood test I had for pregnancy before the hysterectomy cost if memory serves me , $85!
I was hoping someone would know a reason for them to do this test other then habit.

Pregnancy Test 2.5 yrs post Hyster before ovary removal surgery?
Actually, I got the bill the other day, it is $159.30!!!! I am taking this bill with me to my post-op check up to question my doctor and not only ask WHY, but to see what he can do about getting the charges reversed.
The sad news is that my pain has not gone away and after a week of melt downs due to hormone issues (I hope), I am just wondering if his lack of attention to detail in ordering basic tests is also an issue when he did my surgery. I told him the pain was below my hyster incision, out come the "sisters" just because he felt this was where the pain was coming from. In retrospect, how completly did he inspect my pelvic region while he was in there doing the lap since he was so focused on this being a cause of the pain?
