Monday marks 7 months, suggestions? (long)

Hey, Gals...

As of Monday, I'll have been bleeding for 7 months straight (minus about 36 hours).

In April, I had D&C #3 in my life and there was so much scar tissue inside the uterus, the doctor couldn't find my fallopian tubes. It looked like ones of those sci-fi movies with all the worm holes to nowhere.

Anyhow, a week later, I had EA. Not only didn't it work, I didn't even catch a break in the bleeding. We just added crippling pain to the mix.

In May, I had a double dose of depo-provera because that stopped my periods when I did the dance about a decade ago. Much to my surprise, the bleeding increased this time...to flood stage.

We added oral progesterone back to the mix, but that just increased the cramps. I figured I'd rather bleed than hurt, so I quit taking those.

I have fibroids, adenomyosis, PCOS, PID, the retroverted uterus and pretty much everything else that could go wrong. I'm also having urine leakage, frequent UTIs and intense pain on a full bladder.

After seeing no less than 10 different ob/gyns over the last 20 years, I finally found one who will give me the hysterectomy despite my 'young' age and lack of children...but I have to wait until the end of Dec or Jan in order to schedule it because I've used all of my leave for the year to take care of my disabled husband.

All that aside, has anybody else bled this long and did anything other than the surgery fix the problem in the short term? The prospect of bleeding and cramping 24/7 for the next 5 months isn't my idea of a grand time.

On the other hand, perhaps I should just suck it up and buy stock in the Stayfree company.

Any suggestions?

Hello dear,
I think I can understand the pain and frustration that goes with bleeding 24/7. I've been bleeding 24/7 since Sept 27, 2004, since my son was born. It hasn't given me a break even for a few hours. They've tried D & C, depo-provera, progeterone injections and all kinds of stuff. It made me feel worse and even doing my daily chores became an effort for me during the combo of progeterone injections and oral hormonal pills. The doctors decided that a hysterectomy was the only way , though it won't cure my PCOS and I'm only 31.
Have you tried Mirena for the bleeding. A friend of mine had it implanted and it worked for her, though it didn't for me.
Hang in there honey, its tough, but you can get through it as you have courageously with everything that's been going on in your life.
Lots of hugs.
