Good Report

My doctor gave me clearance to resume sexual activity if I "desire" and provided hubby wines and dines me. (My doctor definitely has her comical moments. She is GREAT!)

Of course hubby could not wait to get home from work and came in the door with a bottle of wine.

Okay here is where the TMI starts . Of course we were a little nervous about things beings it was the first time in 6 weeks and being post op but we took thing nice and slow. We reconnected in a way that we have not in a very long time. Last night we made love instead of had sex in a okay hurry up and get it over with because it hurts type of way.

Lubrication was not a problem (we were pleasantly surprised that we didn't have to use any "extra". Penetration was what I was most nervous about considering painful sex was the norm before surgery and according to my doctor I still had alot of sutures present at the vaginal cuff. It only hurt a couple of thrusts and then it was no where near the pre-surgical pain. In other words, it didn't send me through the roof like it did before my surgery. It was penetration from behind so we changed positions to me on top and no more ouchies because I could control the depth. (Just a little hint.)

The BIG O? Yep still great, a little different but still great. What was different? Beings the uterus is gone I didn't have the painful uterine contractions with the BIG O.

Post sexual bleeding? My doctor told me to expect some bleeding afterwards but I have not had any.

Afterwards I asked hubby if making love felt different for him and he said a little but it was actually better. When I asked him how, he said that it felt like the doctor "toned things up". He also said sex was more enjoyable for him because I was able to enjoy it more.

So ladies, all in all the surgery has been a HUGE success, especially since it seems to have improved our sex life. I guess everyone is nervous about hysterectomies messing up their lives. I really feel bad for those ladies whose sex life doesn't improve for one reason or another after surgery.

I am so happy with the success of my surgery that I will be sending my doctor a thank you card for making such a difference in my life.

ASAP - Thank you for the post! I have a bit of time before I am released for action, but he did say orgasm without penetration was fine. Actually, that was even more exciting now - the Big O was there! :dance2: I can't wait for the real thing! Did your doctor give you a vaginal lift, and did you have repairs. I have, and my current recovery includes not being able to sit like a normal person! So, I am worried about the big day, even though they said that my vagina will still allow enough room for penetration - what if it is too small? Weird worries I guess, and I have been too chicken to post it. Thank you for giving me the strenght to do so!

Thank you asap! I think all of us are very worried about the "first" time and you have helped tremendously by posting.

My DH and I basically had no sex life before my surgery because of the nonstop bleeding and pain. We are looking forward to beginning again and almost feel like teenagers with our excitement. Just the anticipation feels like a whole new chapter in our life.

Thanks so much again and I'm sending you a huge !

Fortunately for me I didn't have to have any repairs; only LAVH. I know alot of women are embarrassed to ask questions pertaining to sex, I am also. However, all of us are here for the same reasons so what the heck. I thought that I would go ahead and bite the bullet and post. Maybe someone can learn from my post.

Thanks for the post.
I had a TVH and also worried about it.
My dh is I think counting the days for my dr appt July 5th to see if I am in the clear to have sex. He always tells me I am a big tease and I say not I am not. I ask him if he wants me to wear a snowmobile suit and we lol. The I came up with the idea of wearing the Habit of a Nuns clothing and he still says that won't work either. What is a women to do? LOL!!!!
I laid out in the sun the other day and yesterday morning when he was getting dressed I said to him " At least I don't open my robe up and ask you how my tan is going with nothing on under it" Now that would be mean.
We have a dresser with a mirror on it and I was going to see my tan for myself but he was still in the room and the reflection of the mirror is right where he can see so I said that would have been mean to.
He kept calling me a "BIG TEASE"!!!! LOL
I told him hopfully the dr will release me for the end of the week
