Have a nice juicy slice of Watermelon It is very filling and satisfies the "sweet tooth". And if has to be good for ya, cuz it is fruit

I just had a slice and it did the trick ....... hey at least it kept me from running to the kitchen to make the Chocolate Cake

When Your Craving Something SWEET

My cravings aren't sweets. I want starch and salt! Of course fat is pretty good too. What do I do?

When Your Craving Something SWEET

Sheri, here's a family recipe that I modified when I was on the ultra low fat diet that was still "comfort food" and didn't pack a wallop in the fat/calorie department but tasted really sinful.

Johnny Marzetti

1 lb ground turkey breast or emu
1 small diced onion (I use frozen chopped onion)
1 small diced green pepper
12 oz package "no yolks" egg noodles
2 cans condensed "Healthy Recipes" cream of mushroom soup
2 cans condensed "Healthy Recipes" tomato soup
1/2 to 1 cup skim milk
12 oz Healthy Choice loaf cheese (like Velveeta)

Brown ground meat with onions and green peppers. Cook egg noodles till 1 minute before done and drain. Mix hamburger mixture with egg noodles and both soups and milk in a very large lasagne pan. Thinly slice cheese and lay on top. Bake in a 350 degree oven for about 20 minutes or until cheese is bubbly. Makes about 12 servings. (I don't have the nutrition info on this recipe, but it came in around the 10% fat content area and was reasonable on the sodium with about 300 calories per serving.)

I agree Lisa, I just love watermelon.
And not only is it tasty and refreshing....but its also a bit of a workout....picking all the seeds out of it first!!
Are completely seedless watermelons available? I don't think I have ever seen them around here.

Maria,
I have heard of seedless watermelon. However, I don't see them too often in the grocery store, and when I do they are usually about double the price of the watermelon with seeds.

Guess you can save a few $$$ and get your exercise at the same time

thanks Susan

The word healthy was in that recipe a lot. Do you think my pudgy body might go into shock?

I never really craved sweets until right after my hyst, then I wanted the "C" word (don't want to get you guys craving). But it is the fresh fruit season. So forget you know what and have a strawberry!

Thanks for that recipe Susan, that sounds Yummy

Yep we have seedless watermelons here at our grocery stores also, but Kim is right, they are about double the price. I think I will save my $$$ and pick the seeds out myself.
