Should I bother with the A&P repairs?

WOW! now that I am a little over a week away- I am having all kinds of thoughts- Keep ovaries- take ovaries, keep cervix- take cervix, have the repairs made, for go repairs???

Still haven't been able to get in touch with my DR. I call and get the automated system - then stuck on hold for literally 15 minutes! I have 3 small children at home and just can not wait the long on hold!

So I wrote a note to them today stating that I am not sure if I wrote in my history that I had laser surgery in 95 for precancerous cells, that my sister has now found out she has precancerous cells, and both my g'mom and great g'ma had precancerous cells!

I just don't know what to do, I do not want the mood swings and PMS to continue after surgery because it's pretty bad, and I have a dull stabbing pain in my lower left area and sometimes that pain shifts to the right lower area. I seem to think it's my ovaries...BUt when I mentioned this to any of my gyn's that look at me like I have 3 heads!

I found my old DR but she teaches at teh university now and I am expecting a call from her for advice. I am really starting to hate my new DR's office. I have been there a total of 4 visits and while most of the staff seems friendly enough. They are just horrible over the phone.

UGH!!!! what to do- I only have you ladies and my mom to ask advice at this point beings I can't get a hold of my DR.
Do you really feel teh A&P repairs are worth it???

Can I have a total Hyst and teh repairs? My understanding was that if there is no cervix- then there's nothing to hold the bladder or rectum in place and they will just fall again????

HELP ME sort this through!!!!!

I have the same question...my surgeon hasn't said anything about repairs...and I'm having a TVH preformed by a onc/gyn? Is this something we need to ask for or what?...I thought this might bump your question back to the front page....maybe someone will have some advice.

Have you been diagnosed with cystocele or rectocele? If you have no problem currently with the prolapse of rectum or bladder into vaginal wall, or tearing, there would be no need for repairs. If not...count your blessings and try not to look for more to be done than is necessary! Surely the Dr would have said you have a problem if they were aware of it.

yes I have been diagnosed with these issues. maybe I worded my first post wrong- I wantto know "is it worth it?" will it really solve any of my problems havingthem repaired IF I have my cervix taken. that is what I need to have answred..I really hate that we cannotpost on the postop forum- I'm sure my question would have been answered then!

I'm getting so irritated with this board.

Should I bother with the A&P repairs?

Hopefully this will work. It is my first post.
I had LAVH with A&P repairs on June 15, 2007 (ovaries removed, and bladder sling as well). So far I am glad that I did it. Obviously it is still too early to really tell, But the fact that Everything is tucked back where it is supposed to be is already a great benefit for me. Hope this helps a little. Good luck with your decision making and surgery.

Should I bother with the A&P repairs?

Hi Tracy,

I didn't need or have any repairs done when I had my TVH. My cervix was removed and I haven't had any problems or prolapses issues at all. There are many women here who have had their cervix removed and the repairs you're facing and have also had no problems. Some do. There just aren't any guarantees. I know you're having a hard time getting in touch with your doctor, but it would help you if you could discuss it with him.

Please keep in mind that the boards do run quickly sometimes and you may not receive any replies for a while because there may not be anyone online at the time who has experience with what your asking. We ask that you please be patient.

I hope someone who has some solid information for you comes along soon. In the meantime I found some links in the HysterSisters Resource database that may help provide some answers for you or give you more guidance on where to look.

I wish you the best with your upcoming surgery!

Should I bother with the A&P repairs?

I had a LAVH BSO with A&P repair, bladder sling on June 7th. I have to tell ya the recovery has NOT been easy. Had I any idea of what was involved...I don't know that i would have gone through it. HOWEVER, on the flip side....if they needed to be done, thank GOD they were done at the same time. i would hate the thought of having to go back in and have this done later.
There are good days and bad days for me, and I'm only a little over 3 weeks out. Perhaps someday soon I will be more positive about this? I sure hope so.

Should I bother with the A&P repairs?

Deb thank you the link were very helpful and what I was looking for- I'm sorry I am testy but my patience has run out- I am such a busy mom and my life can't be stuck on hold fro 15 minutes at a time trying to get a hold of my Dr- I am just drained, mentally and physically.
I just want it all to be over and done with..I am actually looking forward to not doing a darn thing for 6 weeks. How sad is that?- to look forward to a major surgery because of the rest I will recieve, pain and all.

thank you all for your replies..I am really not a mean person, just so very annoyed lately.

ha ...I was asking the DR questions and she asked if I was sure I wanted her to do teh suregry..I guess she thought I was questioning her abilities..and I said sure- I am just tired and have had a migraine for a few days now..so I come off as mean I guess"..she said I don't care about your personality..I just wantto know if you are comfortable with me performing the suregry...Uh okaaay I WAS okay with it until you said THAT!
