premarin cream

had total hysterectomy 19 yrs ago and took premarin .625 for 16 yrs. It caused me to be depressed and suffer heartburn but I didn't know that til I stopped it and the symptoms went away. Tried bio-idents and they didn't work. Tried estrogel and it didn't work. Have been on Estraderm 50 for awhile now and I still get hot flashes while on it and irritable and bloated. Blood tests showed that my estrogen levels were okay and I shouldn't be having the hot flashes. Now my dr wants me to try premarin cream at .625 dose but I don't know if I want to use it at that dose. I'm afraid I might get the same side effects I had when on the pills. I feel alot better off estrogens but just need something for dryness. Has anyone used the cream at much lower doses so they don't have side effects? Any help would be much appreciated.
since I live in Canada premarin cream is the only thing we have here. We don't have estrace cream.

premarin cream

Hi Is your DR intending for you to use this cream vaginally, as it's intended to be used, or otherwise? If it's used vaginally, it won't help as much with relief of symptoms like hot flashes and insomnia. If your DR has you use the Premarin vaginal cream other than vaginally, I'm not sure how well it will absorb. I've used a very low dose of Premarin cream vaginally before, but not on its own - combined with estradiol via patches. It does a good job of treating dryness when used vaginally.

What dosage of the patches are you currently using? Is it possible to try a higher dose before resorting to the Premarin cream? Or in combination with a very low dose of the cream, or possibly Vagifem, for the dryness?

s,
-Linda
